Hi everyone Since posting my first pics a couple of days ago, I have some more ! (I'm really getting into this now). I expect that most of you have heard of the famous nursery rhyme "Ride a horse to Banbury cross to see a fine lady upon a white horse" ?. Well, I live in Banbury (for those of you who dont live in the UK, its a town in Oxfordshire) and I thought that you might be interested to see Banbury cross itself as well as the statue of the lady on the white horse ! Just across from Banbury cross is St Mary's Church. This was where I first met Hayley and saw her perform for the first time (November2005) I'm not sure if my photography has improved but I hope its good enough for you to enjoy the veiws ! Best wishes Mark

Great photographs, Mark! Seeing St. Mary's Church again brought back happy memories of another fabulous evening with Hayley. That was where I met her for the ninth time! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard

Hello Mark, Thanks for the wonderful photos! I didn't know Banbury also had a lady on a horse...perhaps she was riding to Coventry ! However, I've heard of Banbury cakes...lots of currants and spices. The Cross looks very impressive...I'll want to Google it to learn its history. Thanks again for sharing, Mark! Cheers, Joe

Hi Richard
Thanks for finding that link, I knew some of that but not as much as perhaps I should, as I have lived in Banbury for 26 years ! I do however know of the author ( Banbury is a small place). Perhaps my next "photo shoot" should be nearby Broughton Castle that was mentioned on the link. The castle has been used in a famous movie quite recently except I can't remember its title !
Best regards Mark

Thanks for all the great pictures from the UK. I am going to have to start making a list of places to visit when I have time to go over and visit the country.

Hi everybody Every October, my home town of Banbury in the UK gets taken over by the Michaelmas fair. The fair rides and stalls are set up in the main shopping streets, market place and town carparks. It is quite an event here which was started in its present form in 1718. I have copied a little of its history for you from the town website - Banbury Michaelmas Fair The Banbury Michaelmas Fair is a 'Chartered' street fair held each year in the centre of Banbury usually during the second week in October. The carousels, rides and stalls provide entertainment and thrills for thousands of Banbury folk and visitors and is the town's largest street event in the year. History Cherwell District Council now holds the Charter for the Fair but it was originally granted to the people of Banbury in 1718 when 'on petition of the inhabitants' George 1st granted a new Charter. I have taken a few shots, although they were taken in the dark and we didn't realise until we got home that our camera has a setting for taking shots at night !! This first shot believe it or not is a very fast ride - yes people were actually on that thing spinning round ! Thats more my kind of ride ! My daughter and I on the merry-go-round Not for me this one - people on each end of this 100 feet high spinning arm - hope they hadn't eaten first ! Sorry for the quality, but it gives you some idea of the event hopefully. Mark

Hi Mark! Thank you for these nice fotos. Don't care for the quality. It's very hard to get a good quality when it's dark outside. Nice picture of you and you're daughter riding the horse. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Hopefully you didn't fell off. Thomas

Hello Mark ! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifThanks so much for sharing the photos from the Michaelmas Fair! I don't go on those fast rides; even in daylight! That was a nice photo of you and your daughter. In fact all of the photos are of very good quality ! Cheers, Joe

Excellent photographs Mark! I used to go on the fast rides when I was younger, mainly at Alton Towers and Chessington World of Adventures, which are both owned by the Madame Tussaud's group. I remember the Vampire at Chessington was very impressive, and it felt as though you were really flying! I've also survived the Black Hole at Alton Towers, but I wouldn't go on those rides now! Best Wishes, Richard
