Hi Keith! It's good to have you back! All the time, we had to put up with the U.K.'s no. 2 fan (just kidding, Roger, you have been a great substitute! ). Glad to see also that you haven't lost your humor (oops, I meant humoUr, of course). So allow yourself some rest, listen to soothing music (hmm, what might I recommend you? ... ), and get better soon! I only hope the chemo will not wreak so much havoc on you. Best wishes from good ol' Germany, Holger

Hi everyone,
I spoke to Keith on the phone this evening and was delighted to hear that he seems in remarkable good spirits. He has requested that I give this brief update:
He was in hospital for two days short of three weeks, the result of which is that he is now able to eat, due the the insertion of a "stent" that enables food to pass by the growth in the eosophagus. He is in some pain, is feeling very week and is virtually immobile. However, he is being well looked after and is able to spend a short time online each day.
He is due to see a consultant next Tuesday. Despite that, he is adamant that he will attend Hayley's concert in Liverpool that evening. Simon, Lothar and I will also be there so we will ensure that he behaves himself! Lol
It was evident that he is deeply moved by the amount of support and encouragement that he has received from so many people here and elsewhere. For that, I would like to add my personal thanks.
I will post future progress reports as soon as they are available!
Roger

Hi Keith, Hey I recognise that smilie! You know...I almost needed a bigger envelope to write that hospital's address! :je I'm so glad that you're getting your strength back! I'm pleased that you've got some wonderful consultants and doctors. Good luck with the oncologist on Tuesday. Meanwhile have a good rest at home. Just let time take its time. I'll continue to keep you in my prayers. Talk to you again soon! Your friend in PA, Joe

Hi everyone,
I have just spoken to Keith on the phone and I'm delighted to say he sounds in good spirits. He has put on quite a lot of the weight that he had previously lost and is eating really well. However, he gets tired quickly and therefore is not able to spend much time online. He does look in for a little while most days but doesn't feel able to post at the moment. Other than that, he is spending much of his time in an easy chair watching television.
He is due to see the consultant on Tuesday afternoon and is determined that he will then go to Liverpool to see Hayley in concert. I will be there too and will post here again the following day.
He sends his best wishes to everyone and thanks you all for the support you are giving him.
Roger

Hi folks, I thought I would give you all a quick update on me. Yesterday, I had a consultation with the Oncologist handling my case and the basic facts are that my cancer is incurable. This, however, is not a death sentence - far from it with the amazing advances made in cancer treatment in recent years. What I am really pleased about is that I now know exactly where I stand for the first time and have a solid plan for the commencement of treatment. On November 25th, I will go into the specialist unit for a four night stay whilst they administer the first series of chemotherapy. This will involve two drugs, one given by injection as a one-off (whether that literally means I will only ever have it once, I don't know - it could mean that it is only once per chemo series). The other drug will be given by intravenous drip continuously over the four day period. I will then be rested for three weeks, after which, I will go in and have the second series (this one should complete just a few days before Christmas). Following that, I will then go in for CT Scans etc., to assess how I have responded to the first two treatments. From there, the treatment regime will be refined specifically to my demonstrated needs. The task that the doctors are working towards is to get control over the cancer and enable me to live with it. This, in my view, is a very positive thing and, as they said yesterday, it is possible to live with it for many years to come. One thing they did say is that this type of chemo does not cause hair loss. Well, anyone who knows me, or has seen my photo, will know that hair loss would not be of any major importance to me - ain't got that much left anyway. So, The kind thoughts of my friends here (and elsewhere) and the prayers of so many have, in my opinion, done much to bring us to this positive note. I thank you all sincerely and know that I can rely on your continued support in the future. Well, that's it. Too much serious stuff out of me for one day. Suffice to say, I celebrated yesterday by attending Hayley's concert in Liverpool and can only say that she was absolutely magnificent. No!!She was better than that - far, far better. And, I was very moved when she dedicated her second song, Bachianas Brasileiras No 5., to me. When we first began HWI (which will celebrate it's 4th birthday in January), we were insistent that she think of it as "her" website. Well, last night, that is precisely what she called it - and I was delighted with such an honour. But, this is where last night's dedication to me must be redicated to all of you. It is everyone here, member and visitor alike, who really makes HWI what it is - The world's number one fansite for Hayley. Thank you all, Keith.

Dear Keith,
I am grievously sorry that no cure is possible for this illness, but I am glad that this is (hopefully) a medical management issue rather than, as you put it, a sentence of doom. It's things like this that lead to the question of why do bad things happen to good people. I will continue to pray for your continued good health.
And as for what Hayley did, well, what more can we say. If there is someone with a greater heart in this world, I don't know who it is.
