Hello again everybody! Yesterday I was in Kingston, Surrey where I saw 3 copies of Hayley's DVD in HMV, and 2 copies in Borders, price £16.99. Borders also had 3 copies of Hayley's biography, price £12.99. For any Hayley fans from overseas who land at Heathrow Airport but don't want to take the Piccadilly Line into Central London, you can catch a 111, 285 or X26 bus from Heathrow Central Bus Station direct to Kingston, fare £1.20 each way. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI'm sure I'm doing a better job in promoting the DVD than Decca, and I'm doing it for free! Incidentally, Kingston is only a couple of miles from Hampton Court, where Hayley will be appearing with Jose Carreras on Wednesday 15th June. Only 6 weeks to go! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifSee you there, Richard

I bought my DVD from the Virgin Megastore in Piccadilly on 16 April - it was the only copy there. I know that there must be a problem with distribution as the cover states that the DVD is in NTSC and for Region 0, which is USA and Canada but the actual DVD is PAL and Region 2! It would appear that the Recording Company were ill-prepared for its release. Still, I am glad to see more copies are appearing. I have bought two copies for friends in France (luckily they have dual PAL / SECAM players) and they tell me that their friends are demanding to know where they can get copies.
I couldn't afford the Hampton Court ticket prices but I have booked a couple of 'Premium' (!!) deckchairs at the Kenwood House Prom in July.

Hi David, and welcome aboard! It's very interesting what you say about disribution problems, I don't know about that but it's certainly odd that Decca have kept the release almost a secret, apart from their e-card on her official site and sent to registered fans. It has me somewhat baffled and I can only assume they are saving every promotional penny they have for Hayley's new album. When they start promoting that, the DVD will sell itself and shops will have to stock up on it. My DVD copy is exactly what the cover says... NTSC at 30 frames/sec and region "unavailable" which I assume to be Region 0 (no region code - the USA is Region 1). It plays on my UK PAL DVD player and TV because these have been also able to display NTSC for quite a few years now I wonder why yours is a PAL region 2 version, very strange! Glad you are looking forward to Kenwood House - several of us willl be there too! What do you think of the DVD then? Cheers Dave

Dave Thanks for the clarification. The last time I tried to play an NTSC video the reproduction was awful but I guess things have moved on with DVD's and I failed to notice. As for what I think of the DVD - well, do you have to ask? It is both highly professional and very personal - a complete joy to watch. I agree with the many music critics who say that Hayley has remarkable stage presence yet never seems distant or aloof. The bonus features on the DVD are also excellent. The documentary with Hayley and her family shows them to be so natural and without the overblown pretentions of some performers. The 'King and I' story is a gem! I know there are a lot of suggestions for songs for Hayley's next CD. Well, she did such a good job with the last one that I'm more than happy to wait to see what she chooses this time. Listening to her talking about her tastes in music, I found she covered many of the artists and styles I like so I am certain that I'll like everything on the new CD. David

I have my copy of this great dvd, whoever is supposed promote the wonderful Hayley here in N Zealand where I live is doing her a great disservice,no radio,tv,or other commerical for the Dvd anywhere, when I went to one of the big retail outlets here in Christchurch I had some problem even finding it and was tucked away in an obscure part of the Dvd section at the store, she deserves much better I think.

Greetings Hayley fans, especially any tourists who are following the royal trail here in the UK! Yesterday I saw three copies of Hayley's DVD in HMV at Windsor, Berkshire, less than five minutes walk from Windsor Castle. I thought about buying one for Prince Charles and Camilla as a belated wedding present, but I'd rather give the money to Hayley for her work with UNICEF. Talking about royal residences, on 15th June Hayley will be appearing with Jose Carreras at King Henry VIII's old pad, Hampton Court Palace. Don't get lost in the maze or you'll miss the concert! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif40 days to go!See you there, Richard

No luck on finding Hayley's DVD here in the USA. So I had to special-order it at my local Borders store. So I should have it in a week or two.

Hooray! I finally got the DVD last Sunday. Having watched it over and over I must say that it was well worth the wait!
The documentary was outstanding! Hayley's primary school teacher and Dame Malvina Major's singing tips (wow...it was like a singing lesson) were so interesting. Hayley's mum had so many stories of Hayley's foray into the musical theatre.
I loved the 100 per cent NZ tourism bit. Such a lovely country. Makes me want to visit Christchurch now!
Hey...that memorabilia slide show is some collection! Any of you lot jealous like me?
Now...onto the concert. Every song has a color all its own. Hayley sang all of the songs from 'Pure' with the grace and beauty that we've all come to expect.
A few highlights that I would like to mention...Acoss the Universe of Time. What a delight to see Sophie join her sister! Goooorgeous!! I'm looking forward with great interest for Sophie's album.
May It Be. Ah, Enya's song from LOTR. A very powerful song yet gentle. Hayley sings it perfectly.
Aria (Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5). Unfortunately a new one for me as I haven't ever heard it. before. Hayley's voice was gorgeous! A definite inclusion in her future works.
How Many Stars. Such an emotional song from Bombay Dreams. Teddy's voice has such power but not as much strength as Hayley's.
Ave Maria. I liked the English lyrics. Such a different take from the Latin words. Superb.
Down To The River. Wow. Hayley starts; followed by the backing group and then the choir. One of my new favourites.
Mary Did You Know. I enjoyed the version on the bonus Xmas CD. I found this DVD version a little fast on the tempo but lovely overall.
Hine e Hine. I found this and the opening number very interesting. I'm glad that the Maori culture is thriving in NZ and not shunned.
Overall a very well produced concert and DVD. Well worth the wait. It's a shame that all PBS stations didn't televise this special.

Yeah Tuesday i got my copy of Hayley Westenra Live ( WOW)
I won't say Live from New Zealand as over here it is called Hayley Westenra Live in Concert.
I prefer Live From New Zealand as We really have not seen much of Hayley over here,And to someone who doesn't follow her as close as we do,would probably think its a DVD of a concert in the Uk as that's where she spends alot of her time. What do you think?

I would have though the inclusion of the words "New Zealand" would help sales there if anything and would be something for kiwis to be proud of. Very strange. Roger

Hello Belinda and Roger! I suppose "Live from New Zealand" is an appropriate title for world-wide editions of the DVD, especially as it is sponsored by the New Zealand Tourist Board (or whatever their correct name is), but perhaps they feel they don't need to promote New Zealand locally. Does the New Zealand edition include the 11 minute documentary about New Zealand? Best Wishes from London, Richard
