Thanks for the information and links Stephany, the sound clip is very encouraging and I love the photos, especially the following one with Hayley as Maria in the black dress. It is a good quality photo (albeit small) on the official site which stands up fairly well to careful enlargement - so I did. Hayley as Maria - looking as 'cool' as you ever did see Cheers, Dave

The video clip worked for me too!! It took ages to load and I was impatient so I thought it didn't work. Anyway - it is...WOW!! She certainly looks pretty Hi Stephany, It took no time to load and I watched it 4 times straightaway !!! Way too short a clip !! Hayley does a wonderful portrayal of feeling pretty although I thought she was still somewhat being shy. Vittorio is a hunk and more...my opinion anyway !! Thank you so much for posting the clip Stephany ! The CD is a to die for I'm sure ! Love, Marianne

Thanks Marianne! I've been doing some investigating to try and guess how well this album might do. I think the best guide is probably the version by Kiri Te Kanawa and Jose Carreras released in April, 1985 (mentioned on Hayley's website) and in the UK, that version went Silver (60,000) in 2 months, Gold (100,000) in 5 months and after the Christmas rush, by February the next year (10 months) it had gone 2 times platinum (600,000). So we shouldn't expect too much too soon from this release but eventually, I think it will do quite well. I do not think this can (or should) qualify for the classical charts. Much depends on how much promotion UCJ give to it, when they do the bulk of the promotion and if they can get the Supermarkets on board. I now think it will qualify for the UK main album chart as a "Cast Recording" or a "Studio Cast Recording" so it would appear in the chart something like this: 1. Cast Recording - West Side Story (Studio) ... although the chart position I have inserted may be somewhat optimistic! But I hope UCJ can find a way to make it more like this: 1. Grigolo, Westenra - West Side Story. I live in hope Cheers, Dave

West side story is still one of my favourite musicals. Love the pic, nice! Saw the clip, way too short, but WOW. Could not help smiling when I saw that. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Also from seeing this pic: Can't wait for it to be released. I am going to order from Amazon in two weeks. Totally going to be worth it as far as I believe. Go Hayley and don't forget the rest of them... Vittorio Grigolo is great at Tony. Heard him and he is pritty good. Like him anyway.

The previous release was pre-internet - because of that I am not sure how relevant that sales profile will be. I dont know if the new release will sell better or worse, but I would bet it sells a lot faster. Jon

At this point I prefer the longer audio clip to the lip-synching video clip. Hayley hits the highest notes of this song with a perfect balance of exuberance and grace. I predict that this CD will become the defintive recording of WSS for the millennia.

Jon Yes indeed Jon, I think all the UK sales will be compressed into the 5 months between August and December... hopefully in two surges - at Anniversary time and again before Christmas. It will be interesting to see how UCJ manage to link this in with further promotion of Treasure (and/or a new special edition) later this year and Vittorio's album (a year old) and 2nd album, expected at the end of the year or soon after. One concern is that Vittorio does a lot of opera, he is well known in Italy, but his debut album wasn't a classical album - this was very surprising. It entered the UK pop chart top 200 on half a dozen occasions last year but he has sold very few albums in the UK compared to Hayley. I wonder how UCJ will deal with that. It will be an interesting time, the next few months. Cheers, Dave
