Leaving aside the grumbling... ... Hint/plea: Sarah Brightman has 17 tracks on her recent "Best of" and Russell Watson has 20 tracks on his. Cheers, Dave A very good point, Dave. I think Hayley should not consider less than 14--All Angels did 13 or 14 (depending upon whether it was the UK or EU version) a disastrous mistake. This is exactly why I have not bought All Angels, I can't find the EU edition. Why should I pay whatever I have to pay for one less track? It doesn't make sense and I was backing All Angels BEFORE anyone officially knew about them! Othe than those running this forum, of course Peter S..

Now that the list is good to go, we must ask ourselves: Are these "best of" songs her most treasured or simply the least objectionable?
I would be more likely to think it's the former had nobody proudly voted out a song without benefit of actually hearing it.
Taken as the farcical exercise it was, I think we did a pretty good job at allowing a reasonable percentage of Hayley's finer songs to remain. I wouldn't put it past record labels to use comparable methodologies when preparing such compilations for real.
I do suspect that Hayley fans who purchase a "best of" album when the time comes will be doing it out of support for Hayley, and not because of whatever's on it.

Hi Nicola, 'Down to the River' is part of the 'Spritual Medley' that appears on the Live From New Zealand DVD. 'Mummers Dance' is a fine song in the Celtic style which appears on Australian and New Zealand bonus versions of Pure, and on the Japanese version of Odyssey! Roger

Okay...
I could go into a rant about all these songs being on all different editions, but I won't bother.
I'll stick with my original UK editions. :s

What is 'Down to the River' and 'Mummers Dance'? Hi Nicola, "Oh my gosh!" (as Hayley would say)... You "haven't lived" yet!!! Run out and buy a copy of Hayley's 'Live From New Zealand' DVD... i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifRegards, Andrew

Now that the list is good to go, we must ask ourselves: Are these "best of" songs her most treasured or simply the least objectionable? Neither! They are the ones that no forum member who participated decided to vote out; nothing more should be read into it than that. I find none of the eliminated songs objectionable, not even the ones I "dismissed". I would be more likely to think it's the former had nobody proudly voted out a song without benefit of actually hearing it. By that logic, the album would be almost entirely made up of Hayley's earliest recordings from the albums "Walking in the Air", the original "Hayley Westenra" and "My Gift to You" simply because the fewest number of members have heard them. To take an extreme example, if Hayley had covered Tina Turner's "River Deep, Mountain High" in the style of the original, I might well have eliminated it from a "Best of" album" without hearing it first, simply because I thought it would spoil the overall "feel" of the album. Sometimes, you have to use your imagination. Taken as the farcical exercise it was, I think we did a pretty good job at allowing a reasonable percentage of Hayley's finer songs to remain. I wouldn't put it past record labels to use comparable methodologies when preparing such compilations for real. 'Twas a bit of fun and it was no more than that. You suggest that record companies might use similar methodologies, and yes, they may indeed but that makes it an interesting and valid exercise not a farcical one! These kind of albums are produced for the mass market not the dedicated fans... Hayley and the record companies have a living to make... I do suspect that Hayley fans who purchase a "best of" album when the time comes will be doing it out of support for Hayley, and not because of whatever's on it. Absolutely, Steve... I think you've hit the nail on the head! However, if some "Walking in The Air" tracks were on it, the situation would be rather different Cheers, Dave

I already passed a century, but then left the forum and came back losing them in the process. Its my own fault.

There was mention of Hayley's carols being too seasonal.
I'm not a big believer in the bible, but I don't dismiss it. I believe, if you want to celebrate the birth of Christ at anytime of the year you can do (I listened to Away In A Manger throughout Summer!).
I have the versions from the Pure special edition. Hayley sings those songs in such a magical way, and should of been included. But never mind.

Here are some more songs to keep or eliminate. It's too late to integrate them into the master list, but let's pick off all but 5 songs for the heck of it:
Bist Du Bei Mir Danny Boy E Pari Ra I'm Kissing You Jekyll La Notte Del Silenzio Let Me Lie Melancholy Interlude Nada Sousou One Fine Day Santa Lucia Shenandoah Sonny Summer Fly Summer Rain The Heart Worships Whispering Hope
