What? I love Caccini's Ave Maria! Okay, I know a lot of angry glares are going to be thrown my way, but I vote out O Mio Babbino. It has its merits, but I don't think it's her best work.

... I vote out O Mio Babbino. It has its merits, but I don't think it's her best work. You really know how to hurt a guy. I listen to that song of hers all the time. Let's pull the plug on her "Pie Jesu" -- she sang it brilliantly at Carnegie Hall, but her studio version (from "Hayley Westenra") wasn't all that impressive.

Why don't we pull the plug on this thread... I can think of many more positive ones for starting a new year off with! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAndrew

Hello again everybody! Firstly it's time to post the link again, so it's HERE. Now I'm going to eliminate a track that isn't on the list yet: 'Do You Hear What I Hear?' (duet with the Choirboys). Richard

Hi Richard,
With the exception of 'Silent Night', I didn't include deifferent versions of the same song as that would make it too complicated.
Andrew. If you don't wish to take part in this thread, nobody is asking you to. As there have been over 60 replies in such a short time, other members are clearly enjoying it in the spirit with which it was intended.

Hey Andrew, Everyone appears to be in very good humour about their favourite being eliminated. It's just a bit of fun I think Richard's point was that he was eliminating no songs at all. Goodbye to 'I Dreamed A Dream'. Wonderful song, just not a good version.

Ave Maria (Bach) Morning has BrokenI'm sorry, but the Ave Maria has to go. That song has been record sooooooooooo many times that I really would want it to the place of a better song on a "Best Of" disc. And "Morning is Broken" is a little too beaty for my tastes.

It's getting harder,
but ... How Many Stars (duet with Teddy Tahu Rhodes) is not well known enough to be on the CD ..... so it goes.....

Hi All, Ive been away for a few days and it has taken me ages to read such a long thread from start to finish. I think it's a great idea, Roger - it gets us very much ON TOPIC and discussing Hayley's music, which cant be a bad thing! As I'm behind, I'll take two as well - Wiegenlied I Say GraceCant wait to see what we're left with. HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL! Stuart

I really don't want to do this, but something has to go, so I'm going to say goodbye to Lascia Ch'io Pianga..

With thanks for you continued interest in this topic, I have made the necessary adjustments to the latest songs that have been named. Whilst there, I also gave the push to 'Listen To The Wind' and 'My Heart And I', both of which are very nice but neither of which seem typical Hayley fare to me.
I must say, I am finding this fascinating. I am surprised by some that have been eliminated but equally surprised by a few that remain. Some of the latter are among my favourites but I hadn't realised the extent of their popularity.
Well, the list is now down to 27 so there are only another 12 to go. Keep 'em coming for a little longer, folks!
Roger
