I think it is rather odd that they try to market to the few collectors. And I think that Hayley would have more clout now than when she did when she released pure. But, I also think that she doesn't bother with the marketing too much, if any, that's Decca's job. I agree with Grant that its Decca's job and i hope they know what they are doing. Hi Guys, Yes, I know that Hayley has strong opinions on some things, but it is not Hayley wanting to control what she records that is the issue. It is how best to package and market what she chooses to record. Hayley, quite rightly, wants control of the musical side of things, but how best to market that to best advantage is up to Decca. Hayley told me herself that she had no control of where in the world HSJS (and its forthcoming follow-up) was released, although I'm sure that she was totally in control of what music was included on the album. Like several others here, I am convinced that Hayley knows exactly what she wants musically, and she is invariably right about that in my opinion. But she has little say, and perhaps not much interest, in the commercial aspects. In that regard she trusts others, and like the rest of you, I hope those others know what they are doing, but sometimes fear that they don't. Especially when she produces a masterpiece like HSJS, which I for one regard as the best album ever recorded by a solo female artist, and it is only sold in one country. OK, I'm biased, but I surely can't be that wrong! I know a lot of you on this forum share my admiration of it too. Perhaps it would take the world by storm, if only they were told that it exists and given the chance to hear it. Martin

Martin Heh As I said above, I dont think they are actually marketing to the "collectors" (although it appears that Grant may be single-handedly allowing them to turn a profit ). They are trying to come up with different mixes of songs, the theory behind which is to appeal to the different cultural tastes of different countries. My own personal opinion is that this very quickly becomes a zero-sum game in the best of cases, and also creates some very questionable decisions (like omitting Santa Lucia on Celtic Treasure in the US which has a sizeable latino population) Martin - I am not denying that HSJS is an outstanding release. I dont know that I would put it in among my top twenty albums all time. Even among the work produced by Hayley, I would personally rank Treasure above it. Jon

I was playing Treasure only today, and I prefer Hayley's voice as it is now to how she sounds on Treasure (which itself I prefer to Pure and Odyssey). She still sings a lot of the Treasure songs in her live performances, and I think now sings them better than she did on the record. Martin
