From Dori's post 128 It's the nearest I can get to 'tongue in cheek'. The answer is that NZ is in the British Commonwealth while the US decided against it! By the by, I'm on this thread as I'm trying to get a copy of 'Celtic Treasure'. Amazon.co.uk say 'unavailable' which I take to mean 'we aren't allowed to supply' and Amazon.com would probably not export to UK. So I guess I'll have to get my friend in Plymouth, now back from a holiday in Italy, to buy a copy for me. This means he'll have the pleasure of it for a long while before I'm out there again or he'll have to post it to me which means I won't have it for when I'm next likely to see Hayley. Bother. Peter S. PS: Just picked up Roger's 139 post to Grant who both appear to have received their CDs from Amazon.com. Interesting. Now which way shall I jump? The trouble is that although my friend might buy it for me and play it, he won't be encouraged by the 'Celtic' bit. This is why I warned, in other posts on another thread, that Hayley needs to tread very diplomatically in Boston. The Irish sentiment is strong but so also is the anti-Irish sentiment. This reminds me, I must enquire of my friend (once he's got his feet under the desk) just how the present N. Ireland situation is melding ancient feuds over there--or not!

Scott’s post 148
Try a Google search. I am sure you will find what you are looking for there. I suspect your point is more that it would be nice if they were neatly printed with the other details. However, it would bulk, become too thick to insert easily and would spoil with regular openings? Just a thought.
Precisely why I want to be in the right receptive mood, as at a Hayley concert but I suspect even then I’ll need a few listenings!

Peter,(welcome back by the way!) many CD come with lyrics and are not a problem, sometimes they are done discretely like on 'Disturbed's 'Ten Thousand Fists' album sleeve (don't ask! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif)Pure had lyrics printed (and there was a miss-spelling on one of the songs - a little quiz for someone if their interested.) But there is a lyrics thread on this forum for 'Treasure' which is useful.

Hi Scott, Peter and all other lyric-starved members! It is certainly possible to include the lyrics as the Japanese version of Treasure proves. In fact, all the lyrics appear in two languages! Sadly, I don't understand one of them... and my understanding of Japanese is limited too! Roger

It's unfortunate not to have the lyrics...particularly for those whose native language is NOT English. Or at least for me. Because even though Hayley's diction is usually very understandable, I still have difficulties to get all the words coming out of her mouth.

Hi everyone,
My apologies. I just noticed that there already was another thread set up for reviews for this album. I should have looked more carefully before posting my review. Again, sorry about that.

Hi All, Apologies for not having posted these pics before. The name of the shop in the top pic is clearly shown. It was in Pitt St. Mall in Sydney Centre. The sales lady described Hayley as a very popular artist. ie. Sales were going well. I wasn't quick enough on the uptake to rotate the CD case around to show Hayley's face. Interestingly enough, "Melancholy interlude" was playing on the shops speaker system as I took that shot. click below for 1024pix wide file farm1.static.flickr.com/246/444761861_afe218e798_o.jpg Next 2 shots were both in HMV also fronting to Pitt St. Mall. This time I rotated a CD to show Hayley's face instead of the lable. Shame that the Cover designer couldn't predict the positioning of that huge ugly lable. I notice that they're all in that pos. You'll have noticed the company Hayley is in & also which row she occupies in both the shops !!! click below for 1024pix wide file farm1.static.flickr.com/245/444761605_7198fe20eb_o.jpg click below for 1024pix wide file farm1.static.flickr.com/229/444755796_6f2dafa8c5_o.jpg

Thank you very much for the lovely pics, Graeme! Why do they have to put the price stickers on Hayley's face?!

Sadly, I don't understand one of them... and my understanding of Japanese is limited too! Roger But doesn't Japanese have an advantage? Isn't one 'noughts and crosses' cipher an entire sentence or paragraph? It is a long time since I did any foreign language type-setting but I vaguely recall that Chineses took 35% more space than English, so perhaps I'm wrong. Peter S.

Regrettably, Graemek, I did not think of asking my friend in Plymouth Mass to take a photograph but he was clearly impressed with his local Borders' presentation as per the followinjg quote from the email he sent me. Good news from a local perspective. Went to Borders Book Store this morning for coffee and found a fairly good size poster of Hayley, just HER photo and name, advertising a CD called CELTIC WOMAN. Nice photo of her and very well displayed, framed too and with the Borders imprint on it. Loved it as it was exclusive. Cheers Chas. He got confused with the DVDs which were also there and did in fact mean 'Celtic Treasure'. He bought it for me and hopefully it will arrive in time for my Easter opportunity to see Hayley. When he went back to check he had bought the right thing and the poster was advertising the right product, the next week’s release was up, so he asked the manager for her poster—and got it for me! Whether with or without frame I dont know. Guess I'll have to pop over to pick it up. Must try and tie it in with Hayley at the Wang centre in Boston--solo, of course! In which case I'll treat him and his wife to seats (in return for him drinving us there!) and hopefully introduce them to Hayley. Peter S.

Hi everyone!
Here's a review from Joanne on Gather (thanks Joanne for the permission to post this). You can view the review and it's comments at the following link: www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?articleId=281474976936554
<3 CaiteOver the weekend I had the occasion to listen to the new offering by New Zealand singer, Hayley Westenra, which is called Celtic Treasure. Celtic Treasure contains thirteen short songs of varying type. Before receiving the CD last week, I had only heard of Hayley Westenra, and had never really paid much attention to her style of music or to her recordings. I listened to this CD cold, with no expectations, good or bad. Usually I have an extremely wide range of musical interests, from classical to vintage rock, country to blues, 40s swing to the bubblegum top 40s of the 60s and 70s. As long as it’s pleasing and well done, I like all kinds of music. As many of you know, I am no stranger to professional musicians, with a pianist son and Darling Daughter who studies both flute and voice. I know quality. That said, for the most part, I found the CD mostly listenable. While I’m no huge fan of Celtic music, I can listen to it. From what I could tell, traditional Celtic musicians who nicely accentuated her voice accompany Hayley: flute, harp, guitar, piano and strings. The musicians did not detract from her effort. This is a very nicely done CD. Hayley’s lilting voice is best served when she does the more classic songs, like “Scarborough Fair” (which I especially enjoyed), “Shenandoah” and “Danny Boy.” She also does quite well on the ballads “Let Me Lie,” “Thye Last Rose of Summer” and “Whispering Hope.” Her voice sounded moderately strained on the more contemporary sounding pieces, like “Summerfly.” I’m not sure why she included this eclectic song on this CD, but her reaching for the higher notes on this more “rocking” popular piece detracted from the entire work. Perhaps she wanted to appeal to the mainstream audience, instead of just those who enjoy Celtic music. “One Fine Day” was very reminiscent of Andrew Lloyd Webber, and while it’s quite an operatic piece, I found that Hayley’s voice sounded uncomfortable with the high notes. Hayley did much better on the following pieces, “Sonny,” “The Water is Wide” and “Abide With Me” with minimal spare piano accompaniment. If she did have to extend her range for a high note, it was done with seeming effortlessness. For some reason, I had the distinct impression that Hayley was attempted to emulate another great Celtic singer, Enya, but was not successful on all counts. “Summer Rain” starts out musically like something from an Enya album, but Hayley’s voice doesn’t carry the high notes as gracefully. Her voice came very close to being annoying on this particular piece. The difference between the two singers is very slight, but noticeable. Enya’s voice is breathy yet always smooth as silk. Hayley, while having quite a beautiful voice, is not quite there yet. Not knowing anything about Hayley, I decided to visit her web site at www.hayleywesterna.com. I was surprised to learn that Hayley is only 19 years old! For such a young person, she has been singing professionally for five years. She’s an extremely beautiful young woman, and for a singer her age, has a strong and wonderful voice. In addition, she’s very socially aware, and donates time and money to various causes. She has achieved quite a bit for a person her young age. I would love to see Hayley do a Celtic Christmas album. In addition, her voice is so well suited to standards, and I would love to hear more of that genre. I’ll no doubt keep my eye on Hayley Westerna. As time goes on, and she matures, I am sure she will eventually become the foremost Celtic singer. Until then, Celtic Treasure was a pleasant introduction to an up and coming young performer

When I play Celtic Treasure on my iTunes player the tracklisting shows two typos: The album is displayed as "Celtic Treasures" and Meav's name on track 8 is rendered as "Maev." How these mistakes were allowed to show up in the finished product is anyone's guess.... and my guess would be that the plural form was the intended title but they switched it to the singular upon realising it was already taken. As for Meav's name, the misspelled way is actually more phonetically true in these parts, so no big deal.

When I play Celtic Treasure on my iTunes player the tracklisting shows two typos: The album is displayed as "Celtic Treasures" and Meav's name on track 8 is rendered as "Maev. Mine did that too when I transferred the album onto my iPod. I fixed it though, but I've found some websites where they refer to Hayley's album "Celtic Treasure" as "Cetlci Treasures." I was disappointed the first day of it's release because I went to the mall by my house and the store I went to didn't have it! But the next day I headed to my favorite store, Borders, and I was welcomed by a cardboard Celtic Treasure promo picture with Hayley, it was about my size, too, and a lot of Hayley albums all over the place I really didn't know what to expect with this album, but as soon as I heard "Let Me Lie" not only did I love the music but I loved the lyrics!
