Morwen, I don't think Joe meant the Evita song, I think he meant the one before that. I actually think the Evita suggestion is a bit more plausible than some previous suggestions. However, as I've said over and over, I think there's a good chance we'll hear less and less cover songs in the future, and more original songs. However, I'm sure Hayley realizes her fans have songs in mind they'd like to hear her cover, and it's quite likely she has some ideas of her own to cover in the future as well. So, even if what I say is true about original songs, I bet she'll still include some covers. But whatever she chooses won't be distasteful or silly. Chungie, why does one have to be middle-aged to sing the Clowns song? I've heard it before, but I don't see what age has to do with it. Not that I couldn't live without her singing it. Remember, when Hayley sang Both Sides Now, some people thought she was too young to sing such a song, but she did anyway. She sang Wuthering Heights when she was 15 or 16, which is kind of young to be singing what she does there, but she sings it well, so why not? I think we should "wait" till Hayley decides to sing it. She should sing songs when and if she wants to.

Hey! It's not that far fetched. Karen England performed when she was 29 or 30 with "Opera Babes". I mean, Deserée is older in the musical, but Hayley was able to do the part of a hopelessly lovestruck Puerto Rican girl. She can do (almost) anything. And just considering the lyrics, they do not have to be sung by an older person. -Taylor P.S.- Thanks Libby.

Libby: On Wuthering Heights, that's high too.

Another song I have always liked is Sandy Denny's "Who Knows Where the Time Goes". I think Hayley really could do a job on that one, although it has already been covered by Eva Cassidy and Mary Black. It needs an outstanding voice and good interpretation skills to sing well. But then we already have Sandy's definitive version, and Sandy was a wonderful singer. It wouldn't be easy to surpass her beautiful version.

There's another question that came to my mind. Anyone ever heard a song, thought "Hey, this would be great if Hayley sang it" and on closer listening, thought "eh.. maybe not."
There's an old song, Veinte anos, which is about love and how sad the singer is, with a soft, wistful melody. But then you look closer at the lyrics, and it refers to the relationship having happened twenty years ago.

Libby: On Wuthering Heights, that's high too. That's true. But it's not operatic or warbly-sounding like that other one. Also, it's a better song, IMO.

I don't know that song, but the song from Paradiso, Would He Even Know Me Now is sort of like that kind of story, isn't it? "We were so young and it was long ago..."

Well, Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" is not exactly a young person's song either, but it didn't stop Hayley!

Sorry. Would you rather not hear any song suggestions from me, then? Hi Morwen Request any song you have...it is just that you may see a better response from others if you keep to the classical crossover genre. Joe

Hi Morwen, Your original YouTube link was by all indications a commercially-available recording. I've taken the liberty of replacing the link with a performance video of 'Veine Años'

Well, Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" is not exactly a young person's song either, but it didn't stop Hayley! Martin D I think that it was because the song "Both Sides Now" at least carries a very hopeful & very positive or even Joyous message to the listeners , ........ WHEREAS the song "Send in the Clowns" sounds very ........... I dun know , it sounds so Sad , so Depressing & almost "Tragically Desolate" . That song invokes the emotion of "Coming-of-Age" & "becoming Old" & "becoming Abandoned & Lonely & Feeling Sorrowful" ............ etc. etc. ........... NOT something that , IMHO , our girl would associate herself with , AT LEAST , not at this moment . That's just way too .......... "Out of the Line" , I guess . Similarly , I DO NOT believe that any of you guys would like to hear Hayley covering another very depressing song of Judy Collins , that "Song" in my mind happened to be "The Blizzard of Colorado" . " ...........A sad , depressed , middle-aged "All-American Soccer MaMa" walking into a pub somewhere in the Mountains of Colorado during a very cold , snowing Winter night . It's too late to get to Denver & she has no place to go other than the pub .......... She is lonely & helpless & heart-broken ........... Her marriage is in RUINS & she started sharing her life story with a stranger.......... " ............... NOT something you'd wanna hear Hayley sing , right ? Neither of these 2 songs . Regards Chungie
