Hi ! Libby ! & Hi ! Guys !!! I have some OTHER new ideas on my mind at this moment & I just really wanna voice them out . I took a look back on Hayley's "Song-List" .......... & I noticed something : Our Princess of Light has , so far , YET to really tap into that sort of "Songs" with a "Dancer-ly" or "Dancing" feel added into it . What I'm trying to say here, is that , THOSE songs do NOT have to be "Disco Dancing" , NOR do they have to be "Lady GaGa Dancing" , but instead with that type of "Upbeat Classical Dancing" feel infused into their arrangement , e.g. Faryl Smith doing a version of "The Blue Danube" or Sarah Brightman performing "The 1001 Arabian Nights" or even the "Triniti" girls performing a version of the classical Celtic song "The Kiss of Goddess Bridget" or maybe Lesley Garrett performing "I'm in Love with Vienna" etc. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifMore often than not , Hayley is "Being very Peaceful & Serene" , which is AMAZING of course . & I know that the song "Dark Waltz" also has a very "Dancer-ly" feeling to it , but THAT might have been a bit too SLOW a piece of music to be called "Refreshing" or "Upbeat" . At the moment , I can think of <Summer Rain> or <Across the Universe of Time> as Hayley's songs that probably can express that sort of "Refreshing Dancing" arrangement , but that's rare for our girl . ........... & I guess that you can probably get my point , right ? What do you think ? Regards Chungie

What about Metti Una Sera a Cena? That's kind of upbeat.

Twilight In Barakeesh (from "The Rose Of Algeria") Zoradie: Crimson the minaret grows in the western glow, Twilight in Barakeesh falls! High o'er the market place Stilling the throng below, Clear there the muezzin calls! And while on high, The silver crescent swings, Unto his love an Arab rover sings. Chorus True as the blade of my scimitar keen Staunch as the steel of the shield that I wear, Is my love, oh Gulnare! Is the love that I give thee Gulnare! And when my sword on the enemy's rings, When 'gainst my shield his arrows he wings, May they death to me bring, should I false be to thee Gulnare. Ah, ah, ah, Gulnare! Tambour and castanet join in the serenade, Stars over Barakeesh glow! Out of the desert's heart, Clear as a mountain rill, Winds of the eventide blow! And while o'er all The night its mantle flings, Unto his love an Arab rover sings. (Chorus) "The Rose Of Algeria" was written by Victor Herbert and Glen MacDonough. It was originally called "Algeria" and a flop until the next season and a name change. And yes, I sing "Twilight In Barakeesh" too, but I have problems with how high it is originally. Unlike me, Hayley probably can manage the high notes. Here's a video of a performance of Twilight In Barakeesh: www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1HuYBYgQv4. Those notes are HIGH!

Yes, they are very high! Hayley's not an opera singer, though, and I don't recall her ever singing that high throughout an entire song. She would probably start lower, if she sang it at all (and I doubt she will). I don't find the tune very appealing. Not that she'll sing all the songs on my list, either!

THIS Aria , in some way , reminds me of Marilyn Monroe & Megan Fox , whereas for Hayley & her music , always remind me of Audrey Hepburn & Liv Tyler . THIS Aria probably would be more suitable for a "Relatively Older" woman to sing , e.g. maybe ........... yeah ......... Lesley Garrett or Dame Kiri Te Kanawa . Because THIS song ........... just .......... just "Feel" so "Old" or so "Jaded" , you know ? I particularly remembered that Composer Victor Herbert has written a song called "I Want To Be a Prima Donna" & Indeed , Lesley Garrett has recorded that . These 2 songs , both written by Victor Herbert ,are really nice to listen to , although at the same time , from my own personal perspective , I found BOTH of them rather "Tacky & Cheesy & Frivolous" (EXACTLY what Marilyn Monroe's personality was about) . ............ just so NOT refreshing , NOT serene , Not even one bit. I'd actually rather recommend that song taken from the Movie <The Fifth Element> , "The Consert Of Diva Pravalaguna" , if you really like a song with a very "Operatic" feel to it . Regards Chungie

What about this? (Hayley, of course, would be Clementina. And there'd be a male singer to play Bennie. Maybe Helmut Lotti, who I just listened to today. Then I remembered I'd heard the name before.. on here, back when I was still a lurker. You don't need to be an opera singer to sing Clementina... I can do it easily. So could Hayley. And in fact, I enjoy doing the Ahs. Unfortunately I don't have a male partner to sing with me. The song is hilarious.) ONE GOOD BOY GONE WRONG (from "The Desert Song") BENNIE: Bold woman, please unhand me, You do not understand me, I’m not the sort of man you seem to think I am. I’m not a gay homewrecker, I’m just a simple soul, Impervious to woman, song, and drink, I am.
CLEMENTINA: And are you sure you are?
BENNIE: Why yes, I think I am.
CLEMENTINA: So very pure you are.
BENNIE: I’m on the brink, I am.
CLEMENTINA: Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah.
BENNIE: I’m in the sink, I am.
Gosh! I might as well confess it, If I didn’t you would guess it, women are the bane of my youth! Ev’ry one’s a tiger cat, with me it’s sad but certain that with women, life can never be smooth! For they can trip you, with tricks, and grip you, like quick sand
CLEMENTINA: Some day, dear, you will be mine.
BENNIE: Can’t you see I don’t want you?
CLEMENTINA: I’ll be a constant nymph or something sweet to him for whom I pine.
(Dance)
BENNIE: One good boy gone wrong, One good boy gone wrong. Youth must have its fling so they say, Here’s where I start flinging my youth away. One more victim picked, Once more sex has clicked, One more saphead who’s been tricked and trapped, Just another boy gone wrong.

I'm sorry, but those lyrics look awful. Hayley sings nice songs, not suggestive, ridiculous-sounding ones.

Hi Morwen,
I have to say I agree with Libby.
Hayley is angelic, spiritual. Her music is about beauty that is beyond the common experience. She sings of love and harmony, not hatred and argument. Hers is a world to be aspired to, not one to be pitied. Her music lifts the soul, rather than miring it in hatred and conflict. She is never confrontational, that is just not in her nature, even when severly provoked. And that is what is so refreshingly different about Hayley. That is why her fans love her. Any song for Hayley has to fit into her way of looking at things. After all, "I Dreamed a Dream" caused a lot of controversy when Hayley sang it. Negative things are to be brushed off, ignored, not allowed into your life. They can destroy you, so don't give them the time of day.
I always thought Carole King's "You've got a friend" would be a good song for Hayley.

It's another "no" from me, Morwen....lyrics are barely acceptable for the forum, never mind Hayley singing them.
Your song suggestions are a literal broken record.

Sorry. Would you rather not hear any song suggestions from me, then?
Because another song that I could see Hayley singing is "Siboney," a 1933 song about homesickness. Emphasis on I could see. Frankly, I don't see what's wrong with a song about homesickness (or DCFMA btw. Is it because it's from Evita?)

I always thought Carole King's "You've got a friend" would be a good song for Hayley. Martin D Hello there ! I have to say that I TOTALLY agree with Martin . That's why I said that Hayley & her music are very very "Audrey Hepburn--ish" (very "Moon River" & very "I Could Have Dance All Night") , instead of being "Marilyn Monroe--ish" . & regarding Carole King's songs , in addition to <You've Got a Friend> , may I also add to the suggestion list some other of Ms Carole's greatest works : <Tapestry> & also <You Made Me Feel Like a Natural Woman> . And On Top of that , may I also suggest the song <Long Long Journey> , originally sung by Enya , taken from her CD "Amarantine" , ALMOST mirroring Hayley's journey of Maturation & her "Odyssey" in the Music World . AND for some other occasions , e.g. Mother's Day in May , Hayley might consider covering <Sarah's Song> , (If ever she were to do it to express her Love & Admiration for her mother Jill) , a song originally sung by Sissel , celebrating a Mother's Love , written in "Reverse" direction , from the Daughter to the Mother . Ummmm ................ ......... LOL ......... Let's wait until our girl has reached into the .......... maybe 45 to 50 age range . I DID remember that Judy Collins did that song when she herself was "Very Mature" in age . (just like what I said before , it DOES take quite a number of years for our Hayley to become as old as Dame Emma Kirkby .) Chungie
