What do some of you think about this......I'm hoping most of you have heard of the remarkable Sandi Patti? There is an amazing song on her "Morning Like This" cd that I think Hayley would be absolutely PERFECT for- seriously- "Unshakable Kingdom". Hayley no doubt possesses the range and power that this song requires. I think it would be impressive. I can hear it in my head now. My mom used to listen to Sandi Patti a lot. She probably still has some of her cassette tapes, too! I mostly just remember her playing her Christmas albums though. Another thing I remember is that my mom told me that in order to learn to hit high notes the way she does, she was told to scream! LOL It doesn't sound like screaming, but it can be a little bit much to hear several songs in a row by her. I still think that song I mentioned on the other page would be good, called Send the Messiah. The version I posted sounds lower than I remember singing it in my choir, but that's because I was a soprano. So, if she were to sing it a little higher, it would work very well for her voice, especially now that her voice is more powerful and emotional. Even though the vocals in the recording I found aren't amazing, but I still find it quite powerful anyway. With Hayley's amazing vocals, it would be even better! If you don't agree with my choice, I won't get mad, don't worry. No worries Libby....... I haven't heard of "Send The Messiah"....I'll have to look into that. So I can't judge that quite yet. You see, when I was younger, I was really into the "Praise Song" scene. My musical tastes have evolved over the years and I find the music I used to enjoy is still nice, but not quite the same. So I enjoy playing "what if" when it comes to those old songs and pairing them with new singers to flesh them out. While I'm still in this thread, has Hayley any experience with "handel's Messiah" ? I own the London Philharmonic's version of this work and there are a few solos that i could hear Hayley doing. One off the top of my head is.... " I Know That My Redeemer Liveth". Hmmm.....

Send the Messiah is more powerful than the "praise songs" you might hear in contemporary worship services, if that's what you mean, and it's no '80s or '90s praise song, either. It's just a beautiful, powerful song, IMO.
I had a listen to I Know that My Redeemer Liveth. It sounds nice, something Hayley would sound great singing. And no, I'm not aware that she's ever performed anything from Handel's Messiah. Although Lascia Ch'io Pianga, the song she sang on the CW DVD (and the special UK edition of Odyssey), is by Handel, as you may know.

I like it!!! But we will have to rule out a few, like Lady Gaga's songs. Ick. How about that lovely rendition of Pokarekare Ana she did with Natalie MacMaster, hm? -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Haha, I was just kidding. But... here's some of the songs I'd love to hear her sing (in addition to original songs): I Know You By Heart Only Hope, from a Walk to Remember Bridge Over Troubled Water (she did sing it recently!) Be Thou My Vision Come Thou Fount I'll Fly Away You Raise Me Up, with both verses, like CW sing at their concerts Thy Word, by Amy Grant Send the Messiah It is Well (With My Soul)Too many hymns? Well, I don't expect her to sing them all at once! Oh, and my very favorite song by Enya: Fallen EmbersOne of the most beautiful songs I know. Enya already sounds so beautiful and perfect when she sings it, but I know Hayley would sound absolutely amazing, too. I'd also love for her to sing something in Gaelic. Or write a love song in French. And more Maori songs, and, and... Some Christmas songs, if she ever does another Christmas album: For Unto Us O Holy Night Love Came Down at Christmas Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring Breath of Heaven (Amy Grant) Christmas Canon Here We Come a' Caroling Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas like she sang in Taiwan last year... amazing! I just figured I'd put them all in one post! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

If she does another Christmas album I'd love to hear her sing I'll Be Home for Christmas, I think she would sing that very well. best wishes Sing

Hi Libby,
She has sung some of those songs before as I'm sure you know. But perhaps what we would like is for her to record them. And yes Sing, I've heard her do "I'll be Home for Christmas" live, as a duet with Rhydian. It was fabulous.
I'd also add her version of "Have youself a Merry Little Christmas" which she combines with a Maori song "Te Hananui" when she sang it on her 2010 Christmas Wishes tour. Heard it live in the Birmingham Symphony Hall, one of the world's finest hlls, while sitting about 6 feet from Hayley. Absolutely wonderful.

Yes, Martin, I want them on recording, so I can listen to them somewhere else besides my computer. And so all her fans who buy her CDs won't risk missing out. I'm sure a Christmas album will be a long time coming, though. I don't want one yet, anyway. Well, I do (I want everything at once sometimes), but I want at least one "proper" album first.

She did such a fantastic job on Winter Magic, I'd love to hear another Christmas album from Hayley in the future.

I thought of another one. I'd been thinking that a song in Hebrew might be interesting, and I heard a good one recently, on So You Think You Can Dance this past season. It's called Eli, Eli (A Walk to Caesarea). The theme of the dance was the Holocaust. The singer is Sophie Milman, a Russian-born, Canadian jazz singer, but the song doesn't sound all that jazzy. It's quite an emotional song, and Hayley is good at those songs these days. Sophie's tone is a lot deeper than Hayley's, but the notes themselves I'm sure Hayley could sing quite easily, and very beautifully. There have been songs before that I had trouble imagining her singing at first (Majesty), but she ended up singing it a bit differently, and much more beautifully than the original version. Watch the dance here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7i1Z5cx6y0And here's a full-length, live version: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASbAhZhAOKk

Hey, speaking of Amy Grant songs, That's What Love is For might not be a bad choice for Hayley. But is that song too dated? What is it, '80s or early '90s? Well, so is Breath of Heaven, but Christmas songs are different.
