It sounds high to me. But actually, I'm thinking that it just sounds kind of difficult to sing. It would certainly be a strain for me to sing. Like you'd need to be properly-trained in opera, and Hayley isn't. She could hit the notes sure, but the thought of singing those warbly, sassy notes that much all at once makes my throat tight just thinking about it. LOL Anyway, I said "I'm not saying Hayley couldn't sing it". I'm just not sure it would suit her that well, that's all. I think it works better for those opera diva's who have a deeper, more assertive tone to their voice. Sure, Hayley's voice would sound a hundred times more pleasant to me than those divas do, but then she'd get the same criticism she did for O Mio Babbino Caro. If she sticks with her own songs more, she won't have to be compared and criticized so much.
As for She's Got a Way, I do think she'd be able to sing it just fine, and sound good. I suppose she could direct it to her mother, or if she ever has a daughter, or something. But I understand where Joe's coming from.

Morwen - "She Moved Throgh the Fair" is on the UK version of Odyssey. JameskParker - Did you know that Hayley was featured (as Maria) on the 50th Anniversary recording of West Side Story a few years ago? It might seem bizarre having a Puerto Rican girl with a New Zealand accent, and an all American Tony with a think Italian one, but it worked. Martin D Thanks for the info..... You wouldn't , by any chance, have a link to this tempting offering, do you?

What do some of you think about this......I'm hoping most of you have heard of the remarkable Sandi Patti? There is an amazing song on her "Morning Like This" cd that I think Hayley would be absolutely PERFECT for- seriously- "Unshakable Kingdom". Hayley no doubt possesses the range and power that this song requires. I think it would be impressive. I can hear it in my head now.

I love her voice. My sister and I used to sing along to her Christmas "The Gift Goes On" album all the time when we were little, even when it wasn't Christmas season. I hadn't heard "Unshakable Kingdom" before. I had to look it up on youtube. Awesome song. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifJenny♥

Hayley no doubt possesses the range and power that this song requires. I think it would be impressive. I can hear it in my head now. My mom used to listen to Sandi Patti a lot. She probably still has some of her cassette tapes, too! I mostly just remember her playing her Christmas albums though. Another thing I remember is that my mom told me that in order to learn to hit high notes the way she does, she was told to scream! LOL It doesn't sound like screaming, but it can be a little bit much to hear several songs in a row by her. I still think that song I mentioned on the other page would be good, called Send the Messiah. The version I posted sounds lower than I remember singing it in my choir, but that's because I was a soprano. So, if she were to sing it a little higher, it would work very well for her voice, especially now that her voice is more powerful and emotional. Even though the vocals in the recording I found aren't amazing, but I still find it quite powerful anyway. With Hayley's amazing vocals, it would be even better! If you don't agree with my choice, I won't get mad, don't worry.

Libby, ...I'm not sure I've even heard of that one. Either that or I got it confused with the other... one? Two? However many came before Pure *** Bamafan, Definitely don't know that one! Thanks for the track list Hey Elliot! Hayley had three albums before "Pure": Walking In The Air (not for general release), Hayley Westenra, and My Gift To You. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAnd I have heard of... None of them! Clearly I suck as a fan!

Not really. And please don't say you've sung it. Why (about the "not saying I've sung it?") I have, but I keep forgetting the words. I also sing "She's Always A Woman."

I don't know the song And So it Goes. I keep thinking of a line of a Josh Groban song, but I know it's not that, since that's not even the title. Who sings it?

I happen to have "The Gift Goes On" album myself. It's somewhere among my possessions , I'm just not sure where. I'm kind of a pack rat. But I always liked that album too.
