Hi everyone, For those of you who weren't following Hayley at the time, Mario Frangoulis is a Greek tenor who was her support artist during the UK tour in November 2004. A friend of mine in the US who is a huge Mario fan has informed me that he will be releasing a new album in Greece "any day now". Apparently it is a tribute album to Mario Lanza called 'Passione'. That is as much as I was told so I have just done a little research and found some information which justifies its position on the Other Albums board: The album currently appears on Ebay, HERE. Here is an image of the front of the album: If you scroll down the page at Ebay, you will see an image which I believe to be the back of the same album. And look at track No 7! 7. Be My Love (duet with Hayley Westenra).I will post further information as soon as it is available. Roger

Lovely song, 'Be My Love'!
'Can't think where I heard it
... Mario Lanza?
Great find, Roger.
Pricey on Ebay, though.

Hi Roger and thanks for this excellent news, it will be interesting to see how Mario Frangoulis' album stacks up against the originals by The Master of 1950s classical crossover music himself. He's got one heck of a job on his hands (Lanza's voice is strikingly unique) but I'm sure Hayley's contribution will help him quite a lot! I have resurrected the Mario Lanza thread in case anyone wants to hear a reasonable length sample of his original version of this song - you can find the sample here. Cheers, Dave (An original Mario Lanza fan so the other Mario, this better be good!) i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Hello Roger, Thank you for this very interesting discovery. We now know Mario is one of the 'male singers' Hayley mentioned in her newsletter. The sample Dave posted sounds great - I look forward to hearing this new duet. Stephany

This is a little confusing with the two Marios, but I'm excited about the duet!

This is a little confusing with the two Marios, but I'm excited about the duet! I got confused too! (See reply 1 above). I knew I'd heard of 'Be My Love' somewhere but I should have read the CD cover! Happy 2008 to You! Paddy

Oh yes - I'm wide awake! The date of Hayley's appearance at the Edinburgh Usher Hall (with Mario Frangoulis featuring as guest artist) was actually Monday 15th November 2004... Although you were apparently sitting right behind me during the Concert, we hadn't officially met then had we? Happy New Year!!! Andrew

Hi Roger and everybody else, and 'Here's To The Heroes'... I always remember the fantastic rendition of this song which Mario Frangoulis performed to the 'Dances With Wolves' tune during Hayley's Winter 'Pure' Tour. Mario was promoting his album entitled 'Follow Your Heart' at the time. You can hear the studio recording of 'Here's To The Heroes' on there. A favourite of yours too Roger if I am not mistaken? Andrew

It's a good song. I just got it. Hayley definately has more of a back-up role in the song, but it's cool. I've always liked Mario (maybe because I'm Greek too). I'm glad they recorded something together!

Hello Alena, Thank you for your interesting comment on this duet with Mario Frangoulis. There is a mp3 sample of 'Be my love' available for download on Greekshops.com. Unfortunately, Hayley is not on it! Best wishes, Stephany
