Hi, thank you for all of your kind words to me! i'm excited to hear my English is not that bad. So there's another special edition to be out. Well, UK fans have to buy twice! I rather want Decca not to cancel any more singles that were going to be released. In my opinion, this best album is a bit like special edition in the UK. I don't think having SE with a few track release is a very good idea in Japan - their albums are very expensive and people won't tend to buy twice! I remember Pure limited edition was going to be out on Mar 2004 in Japan along with Japan tour but it did not happen after all. Is anyone going to buy this best album? I'm still thinking, because I've already put an order for my copy of Odyssey SE and it has all the track that are on the best album. Anna

Hello Anna and welcome from me, too!
My impression is that Best of Hayley, Odyssey UK Special Edition and (probably) the German special album when it is released are intended more for people who don't yet have Odyssey, rather than the people who already own it. This is because undeniably, Odyssey has underperformed everywhere it has been released (except, possibly, in New Zealand) so potentially, there are a lot more sales to be gained. The vast majority of owners of "Pure" do not yet have Odyssey - so it can still do a lot better!
I expected Odyssey to sell between a quarter and a half of "Pure" by the end of 2005 - which in the UK means 150,000 to 300,000 copies but it sold less than 100,000. There is a similar situation in Japan (but divide all the figures by 6). Part of the reason for this was the decision to stop promoting Odyssey until the Il Divo tour started - this lost many sales towards the end of last year. But I believe there will soon be some heavy promotion of these Odyssey special editions - certainly in the UK and probably elsewhere, to try and attract some of those "missing" sales - sales to the people who don't yet have it.
Of course, with relatively low sales so far, most existing owners of Odyssey will be actual Hayley fans and many of us will buy the new edition anyway - but, I hope, even more "first time" sales will be made, so these special editions could do quite well.
Cheers, Dave

here is the track list for this cd and I feel they sould of called it a different name when you see the tracklist you would know what I mean. I think thing could of called it ODYSSEY 2 this would be a better name. 1 Lascia Ch`io Pianga From Rinaldo 2 O Mio Babbino Caro From Gianni Schicchi 3 Benedictus From The Armed Man: A Mass For Peace 4 Laudate Dominium From Vesperae Solennes De Confessore. K.339 5 Wiegenlied 6 Ave Maria (Caccini) 7 Dido`s Lamento (When I Am Laid In Earth) From Dido And Aeneas 8 The Water Is Wide 9 Danny Boy / Carrickfergus 10 She Moves Through The Fair 11 The Mists Of Isley 12 May It Be From The Lord Of The Rings 13 Dell` Amore Non Si Sa Duet With Andrea Bocelli 14 Amazing Grace 15 Pokarekare Ana only three of the songs are from pure the other songs are from ODYSSEY mostly the UK one and the SE and tham you have Danny Boy / Carrickfergus The bias of this album is definitely towards the classical - compared to the original Odysseys - International and Japan editions. Several of the "pop" songs have been dropped and replaced by classical or traditional songs (with classical arrangements). So there will soon be three (with UK Special Edition) "classical" Odysseys. You are right Kimberly - it IS basically Odyssey with a few bonus tracks from Pure - not really a true "Best of Hayley". This makes me wonder if Hayley's move towards more 'pop' songs on her albums has been judged unsuccessful and perhaps has been halted for the time being. But I am sure she will continue to record and perform the traditional, folk and celtic songs - as well as suitable classical arias. Cheers, Dave

Does anyone know a good place where you can get this cd and have it not more than 30 dollars. Stephanie is thanking about getting this cd because she does not have Odyssey . I was the one that got the UK and NZ one Adn we thought that this would be the better cd for her to get because it has O Mio Babbino Caro ,Dido`s Lamento ,The Mists Of Isley and so on it . I am going to get the UK New ention of Odyssey.

Hi, I've just found this on eBay: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4846595817&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:ITIt definitely has the cover for Best of Hayley, but the track listing and the release date are different. I'm also quite confused because the seller told me that it is not imported cd from Japan but from EU or somewhere else! It's free delivery and if this is a Japan import CD, the price is really cheap, i think. I would click the buy it now button immediately if it was, but I even don't know what the kind of this disc is! Anna

Hi Anna, thanks for that information! I always right click on the web page and use Google Translate (it helps - slightly!) And what's more, the album now has a proper name - didn't you notice? It's such a lovely name that I've already changed this thread title to it! Universal and Hayley's official Japanese website say it's going to be called: [glow=blue,5,1500] Crystal[/glow] That other "Best of Hayley" album on Ebay that you mentioned in your other post, this could be the German version that's due out in April. HMV Japan are listing it already and that may be where the seller got his information from - and there is no tracklisting (and the seller has none?). But it's "sourced in Europe" and "release date 30 April 2006". Personally I don''t buy Hayley stuff from ebay because I want to be certain it's a genuine and new copy, and I like to help Hayley to get into the charts by buying it somewhere whos sales actually count towards the charts! Thanks again for posting this Anna, it sounds like a really REALLY nice Japanese version - the new name is better than Odyssey!!! Cheers, Dave

Thanks for posting the link Anna!!
Interesting name change to "Crystal", it seems like a good way to relaunch the album along the "Pure" theme. Wonder if the same CD would be released in UK as the special edition? Same cover and similar track listing.
So far, my favourite new track is #9. I think it's "Scarborough Fair" instead of "Danny Boy / Carrickfergus" previously reported.

Dave, I entirely agree. While keeping tabs on Hayley and following her around the country with her concerts when I can, I too always buy from where a source is likely to be racketing up her numbers. It's not just buying her CDs, its buying them so the sale is meaningful to her charts.

Hello everybody! Many thanks to Anna for the link and the information. My favourite of the new songs is the piece by Handel, track 1 on 'Crystal'. I really must try and learn the title, but I find it incredibly difficult to remember! I notice the work often appears in the Classic FM Most Wanted voting list, so it could be worth voting for it when Hayley's version is released in the UK. Best Wishes from London, Richard

But I don't understand why you say it's difficult to remember - I assume you mean this one: Dave
