Yes, I agree up tp a point, Hayley even misses the same notes that Kate does. Deliberately I'm sure. But somehow Hayley sounds as if she is in control of what she is doing. Kate just sounds hysterical to me.

Yeah, Kate, as happens with most of experimental art, is hard to understand and like, she does sound unorthodox and weird, but she makes it absolutely consciously. And, yeah, she sounds quite hysterical, but that's precisely how she meant to sound, XD, specially for this song, and I don't think she sings out of control, actually, to push the voice to those extremes, she has a quite great control.

If one wants to hear a "nerve-gratingly" cover of this great song , I U-Tubed Pat Benatar doing Wuthering Heights. this song was WAY out of Pat's league. As for Hayley versus Kate.... This wouldn't be the first time that a singer came along and bested someone else's original.

Yes, it is a challenging song I'm sure, one that needs a good vocal range and good control. Perhaps that's why Hayley is so fond of it. Most singers wouldn't even attempt it.
