Hi Graemek and everyone. It's brill' that you all have so many ideas about promoting HWI and Hayley and I agree with most of what's being said! Certainly Graeme's comment about business cards rings very true. My original idea, though, was much more specific and stemmed from a conversation I had with people sitting next to me. I was wearing my HWI sweatshirt for the first time (and wearing it proudly, I might add!) at the Canterbury concert, and I guess that I was representing HWI and Hayley for that matter i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif These people were keen to get more information about Hayley - concerts - CD's etc. I would never suggest "papering" any venue with cards or leaflets but simply to have something positive to hand out when someone actually wanted to receive it, as was true in this case Best wishes Grant Hi Grant, I think it would be a great idea if the New Zealand "All Blacks" Rugby Team Association were to include an advertisment for Hayley within every printed programme which is produced for International rugby matches and also on their website (if there isn't one there already?) I believe they owe a great deal to Hayley! Maybe the URLs for hayleywestenra.com' and 'HWI' could be posted somewhere within the advert? Just a thought... Andrew We'll need to ask Belinda if the red buses of Christchurch NZ or taxis will be used for advertising Hayley's new album?

That would certainly get a few thousand pairs of eyes looking, especially if Hayley were to be singing before the match! When asking Belinda about red buses and taxis - I believe Christchurch has a tram system so we should perhaps include them too! Best wishes Grant

Perhaps Roger could approach Steve Abbott or Kathryn Nash to find out whether they would consider asking the website administrators if they could do this? Regards, Andrew

Hi Andrew and evryone, that is not a silly idea as Yulia has some ad's on some busses here in CH CH, I noticed them the other day. Promoting her latest album, So, it could be done maybe a good idea to mention this to the powers that be at Decca perhaps? Just a thought, Rodders

I have been doing some thinking coming home on the train today. It seems to me that whenever I'm at a concert, someone will ask a leading question like "Have you seen Hayley before?" and I end up telling them all about Hayley (as I know it anyway!) Noticed it even more yesterday with my new sweatshirt and the couple next to me started asking questions. I told them about the web site and how to find out about concerts and how to find out more about Hayley. Here comes the crunch! I told them, but will they remember? I didn't have anything to write down the details and if they forget - it's lost. Many people won't travel as far as we will. Would it be useful for those of us who want to, to have some form of official hand out? - I mean a little card or something with basic details which might encourage contact with the site or purchase of merchandise without being pushy. Just a thought Grant Hi Grant and all, please bear with me in a bit of self-history!! The pic shows my friend Rhonda (left) & myself...... we just showed her the 'Bright & Beautiful' clip!!! She loved it & commented on the 'crystal clear voice' of Hayley!!! Rhonda listens very patiently to innumerous accounts of and WOWS over Hayley. She also enjoys her DVD! She isn't a member yet but I count her as a member of a member! love, Marianne

I was going to comment on Rogers thread "How to Register" but realise I can't! So I'll put it here!!
I was introduced to HWI by Keith at Hayley's UNICEF concert in September 2005, but it took me until July 2006 to join!! But that was only after I'd met a Forum member and learnt that Hayley had joined!!!!!
Since July I have made many new friends. Some, I'm delighted to say I've met, but there are many others, some of whom I may never meet in person.
To our guests I would say this:
You have found the web site so you must have an interest in Hayley - if so you have come to the right place - and there is no better place to meet people of a like mind and to fimd out what is happening in Hayley's world.
To the administrators (that's you Roger! ) maybe it would help if there was a little more guidance on the home page to encourage people to join. Just a thought.
Sorry if I'm speaking out of turn but, as far as Hayley is concerned, there is no better place to be in my opinion!!
Long live HWI!!
Best wishes Grant

Best wishes Grant Hi Grant, That is an interesting suggestion. I don't think we could display the registration procedure on the Home Page of the main site (I assume that is where you meant) as it would take up too much space. We may be able to put a link to the post I made yesterday, though. What say you, Dave? Roger

I support your suggestion Grant. it may be there are practical considerations but that is certainly where the excellent post Roger made should be as a permanent easy reminder to all newcomers.
However, many may be on MSN or Hotmail and that may be the problem. I am sure there is not any advice I can offer Roger regarding technicalities but could a provision be made for a private email? Perhaps an email address that someone as a guest could use to say 'tried to register did not receive the code', or could advise perhaps through 'copy and paste' as they register, or manual note-taking of what they did when they did it, so it comes to Roger 'in parallel', enabling him to check if everything followed through?
It has always bothered me that we seem to stick around a number (apparently it used to be around 60 for many months) and never progress further forward.
However, it may be simply that those who 'hover' gain the inforation they need and do not wish, or do not have the time--or do not feel they have anything to contribute--but are equally happy with participaing at a distance.
In that we still render a service and I think we do need to be aware that by 'simply exisiting', we have no idea of much further we help to spread the reputation of Hayley but are unable to measure the effect we have.
In some ways it is similar to the argument I have often had in promotion and publicity. When companies are tight for money those are the budgets that get pruned first, because it is very difficult to assess the effect you are having. Often it is more than one realises!

Roger Hi Roger and all, What about this (slightly developing what you suggested): - one link for existing members and guests (as now), taking them straight to the forum's main index page, and: - an adjacent link for non-members who wish to join... this would take them directly to the Instructions message. The two links might be called, for example "View the Forum" and "Join the Forum" Any more ideas out there? Cheers, Dave

Peter S. Thanks for the thought, Peter, but that would serve no useful purpose. If someone attempted to register but failed to receive the activation code, I would know it anyway. They would still appear on the membership list but their profile would indicate that their account had not been activated. When that happens, there is nothing we can do about it as it is impossible for us to generate another activation code. Dave, I like the idea of the two links on the home page. Perhaps we can discuss exactly how it should be done offlist. I see I have five minutes to spare in 2009! Roger

I also like the idea of two links. If it were possible for the "view the forum" link to have a message to say something like "If you like what you see, why not join us?" then anyone looking in would perhaps be made to feel more welcome. Just a thought. Grant

Hi All!!
As you may have guessed, I've been having a spot of bother with my computer which, coupled with the fact that my choice of Broadband supplier was seriously flawed, has led to me being somewhat fed up and needing to use my local library for Forum activity!!
So what has this got to do with promoting Hayley?!
Well, I fetched my computer back this morning and was asked about my desktop picture - it's one of Hayley of course!!
My computer guy told me he'd found HWI's web site and listened to Hayley singing he liked what he heard, so I gave them a quick rundown on Hayley, the web site and her albums.
Not only did I drive home feeling much happier having spent some time talking about my favourite subject, but I have a feeling that he will delve deeper into the special world of Hayley!!
Grant
