I have been doing some thinking coming home on the train today.
It seems to me that whenever I'm at a concert, someone will ask a leading question like "Have you seen Hayley before?" and I end up telling them all about Hayley (as I know it anyway!)
Noticed it even more yesterday with my new sweatshirt and the couple next to me started asking questions. I told them about the web site and how to find out about concerts and how to find out more about Hayley.
Here comes the crunch!
I told them, but will they remember? I didn't have anything to write down the details and if they forget - it's lost. Many people won't travel as far as we will.
Would it be useful for those of us who want to, to have some form of official hand out? - I mean a little card or something with basic details which might encourage contact with the site or purchase of merchandise without being pushy.
Just a thought
Grant

Grant Yes! Actually, this is something that we have discussed from time to time but we have never seriously got beyond the "yes, it's a good idea" stage, largely through lack of time. Such cards would not only have to be designed but produced in quite large numbers and distrubuted to any members who are willing to give them out. That could prove costly. However, it is something that we really must consider further so thanks for the reminder, Grant. Roger

Thanks for your input Belinda, and your support - also your comments Roger. Producing cards can't be that costly - I would be happy to contribute towards the cost - anything to benefit Hayley!! Hey Belinda! How do you like my Avatar? That's thanks to George (for the great photo) and Roger for "Granting" (ouch!) my request for help. Enjoyed your photo's too!! Grant

Hi Grant
I am all for your great idea. If someone could design something similar to the one shown above by Belinda and display it on this site, we could all print our own leaflets/cards as and when required.
Regards,
George

Interesting thought George and I don't wish to be a wet blanket, but if we all produced our own copies, even of a 'master' piece of artwork there are bound to be inconsistencies.
My current printer, for example, is old and very tired and would not produce the sort of quality I would hope to see. Also, I think some people still only have black and white.
I would hope we could have something produced, maybe even with Steve and/or Hayley's input that would result in a standard approach across the world.
It obviously requires a lot of thought.

Just a thought Grant This is really a question for the managers and owners of the site to respond to but: - I think you make an excellent suggestion.
- We can actually all do our own, we surely have the equipment?
- Some of us may not be that advanced in expertise or have the time to actually do so.
- An 'official' one for consistency could be made available for downloading by registered members, but more work for the already over-worked, 'minor' 'though it would be.
- Ideally, if they are that interested and likely to follow through (that is, they have the necessary command of the internet to feel up to it and be contributors), surely they merely need to search for 'Hayley', won't help but 'Hayley west' will bring it up under the third option of the second set of choices and of course, assuming they spell 'westenra' right, which might be the key problem, this site will come up third--for all these things happened when I just tried them out in another window!

Peter S. Hi Peter,Grant, Belinda, George, Roger. It's very encouraging to read thru the suggestions for handout type Hayley Info. My problem is that during my working life in various design offices, all of us gathered festoons of cards & either threw them into draws or filed them & then forgot about them. It was usually easier to ask around or go to the phone book to get product or service info. What I'm saying is that It seems to me better to establish the (quite unique=uncommon) Westenra name & spelling with another person verbally than to hand out yet another card. We're trying to promote a very musically gifted darling of a person & a card can't convey that enthusiasm needed to spark off interest in a musician like she is. I really think her name is a real advantage to her & so does she it seems pretty clear. I've only come across one person (a friend of mine) who had no PC or even DVD player with which to play sample music files. This guy has only a CD player in his car so thats all I was able to go on. But most of us Westerners (quite distinct from Westenras) have access to our own PC's so web info is going to be the channel to be aimed at. I don't mean this to be negative but neither do I like well intentioned efforts to be misdirected. If people agree with this all they need is a sheet of plain A4 paper with the W name printed all over it. Then cut it into strips to fit in your wallets & 'voila' Graemek

Hi Graeme , i'll stick with my cards ,they have worked well for me so far, Haha and everyone who meets me hears about Hayley if they talk to me long enough ,and if i have some of the wonderful pics that you all have taken of Hayley with me they soon want to know more. Or they start telling me where or when they last saw Hayley etc Belinda NZ

Hello Grant and everybody! I always carry a copy of the flyer for the November 2004 Pure Tour in my pocket, and I show it to people when I talk to them about Hayley. I showed it to the barmaid on the Tattershall Castle. I've got several more copies in a safe place at home, including one in a frame! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard

The earlier 'Pure' Tour flyer of March 2004 looked like this: Does anybody have access to a colour laser printer? Andrew

I agree with Graemek's sensible suggestion of using the power of the net to pass on more information about Hayley. We all know that internet and broadband usage is escalating rapidly so it strikes me that If we want people to look at he Forum as a source then all we need say to those interested is "Google Hayley Westenra" ! No cards needed or having to remember url's. Alternatively, as I haven't got a 2004 Pure Tour flyer I could walk up and down Oxford Street with a HWI Forum sandwich board.

Hi Graemek and everyone. It's brill' that you all have so many ideas about promoting HWI and Hayley and I agree with most of what's being said! Certainly Graeme's comment about business cards rings very true. My original idea, though, was much more specific and stemmed from a conversation I had with people sitting next to me. I was wearing my HWI sweatshirt for the first time (and wearing it proudly, I might add!) at the Canterbury concert, and I guess that I was representing HWI and Hayley for that matter i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif These people were keen to get more information about Hayley - concerts - CD's etc. I would never suggest "papering" any venue with cards or leaflets but simply to have something positive to hand out when someone actually wanted to receive it, as was true in this case Best wishes Grant
