Sorry about the missing forum icons, and difficulty in connecting to the main site, which is all due to the same thing: our website hosts are having problems with the server at the moment. Hopefully all will be well again within a few hours. Dave Well yesterday's website connection problems and missing forum icons eventually resolved satisfactorily after several hours but... we have the same problem this evening, UK time, it's been going on for well over an hour (or more) by now. I have raised a support ticket and complaint with the website hosts. Dave

Sorry everyone but I've just seen the following message from the hosts of the main HWI website: So for the next 5 hours or so, the website will have disappeared "NOT FOUND" and some of the forum icons - and my avatar! - will have gone walkabout. Dave

Apologies for the forum downtime during the last hour.
It appears ProBoards had a server issue.

Hi Joe, was glad to see that it didn't last too long, just goes to show that even the best Internet servers can have off days!
Incidentally, the main HWI website moved to a new server last week, which should be giving better performance, I hope that Maya from Japan in particular can now see the site better.
Cheers, Dave

As you have seen near our forum banner, ProBoards have sent us a network maintenance notice.
They have advised of a possible extended downtime between 5 am to 9 am BST (UK time) / 12 am to 4 am EDT (USA east coast time).

Hi everyone,
Following the short outage on the forum earlier today, our main website is currently off-line and I am waiting for our website hosting company to look into the problem.
Hopefully it'll be back before too long but I do not yet have an estimated time for the fix. And I was in the middle of doing a major update aaaarghhhh! Sadly some of our little smilies and other icons will disappear for a while.
Dave
EDIT
GRRRRR they are doing emergency maintenance on the server and say they couldn't tell us beforehand. They'll finish "in 2 to 3 hours" so I'll have to finish my updates tomorrow.

Just to mention that there was a Proboards outage last night UK time, yesterday evening US time, not sure how long it lasted but it certainly stopped me from logging on!
Cheers, Dave

This probably is not related to that at all, and probably another problem just on my end; but I just wanted to point out that every so often, whenever I try to navigate from this forum to other websites (usually the official forum), I get the message saying Problem loading page. I would say it probably doesn't happen more than once a week, but just enough to be irritating. If I try another website, it usually works, but sometimes not. However, the official forum is nearly always the website I navigate to next.

I do that too Libby, and I have never had that problem. "Problem loading page" is something I got last weekend when my campsite internet was down, probably due to a thunderstorm. The campsite people said the people who maintain it can only e called out weekdays, and neither of them (a lovely couple) had much clue about such things. So I've been missing for a day or two. But I very often visit the OF after HWI, sometime son the same tab, sometimes a different one and I have never had a problem.

The HWI main website has been up and down in the last few hours, the hosting company have decided in their infinite wisdom to move everything to a new server cluster tonight, for better performance they say. It should be back to normal within a few hours.
Cheers, Dave
