EDIT 22:27 BST - Fixed again. Hmmm... Dave Hi everyone, It seems that I was right to be sceptical. Our website hosts (Servage) have had to take offline the HWI website and all others using the same servers as us, for an overnight "maintenance fix" like a few days ago. Overnight in Europe, that is. They tell me that it is likely to be offline for the next three to five hours. Sorry about the missing icons etc. in the forum. Needless to say, I am not happy and I will demand further assurances about this when they have finished (including moving the entire website to a different server, if this one breaks again). Dave |

It seems that Proboards is currently unavailable from the UK, or at least my part of the UK. All other Internet sites that I use seem to be OK.
How do I know? By using a proxy server located in the US, so access from there seems to be fine. I posted a message on our Facebook page, which I will now have to update and then, it's bedtime for me.

When I enter my login details and password and click "LOGIN" nothing appears to happen, that window remains on screen. but if I open a new window, and go to the forum via a bookmark, I am logged in  when I try to make a post or a SEARCH... well.. various things happen.. 1. nothing 2. a disconnect notice 3. a blank Mozilla screen 4. a connection has timed out notice 5. sometimes it even works 6. sometimes when I click "POST REPLY" the post goes through, but I get dumped out and sometimes also logged out, with a connection timed out notice but when I log in again the post is there.. |

No need for you to apologise,
It helps to know what is wrong with something, if someone is trying to fix it.
No point in looking in the foundations if water is coming in through the roof.

Hi everyone,
We are having intermittent connection problems again on the HWI main site today, that's why some of the logos and icons are sometimes missing here.
Sorry about that, I have reported it to the website hosting company and have asked them to monitor it for the next few hours as it's intermittent, and fix it.

Hi Dave, Thanks for the info. Earlier this morning I was having connection issues when using the Pro Boards app on my iPhone. The issues seem to coincide with those of the main website. Everything is fine now.  Matt |

Apologies for the "time-outs", the dodgy connection and loading times this evening. ProBoards have nearly sorted out the inbound DDoS attack on their servers.

Hi everyone,
Unfortunately the HWI main website has been unavailable intermittently today and some of the forum icons hosted there are not always being displayed. The reason is given by our website hosts Servage.net as:
A DDoS (distributed denial of service) attack is what took some US Government websites and the record industry's website offline for a day recently, after MegaUpload was shut down.

There have been some strange error messages at times on the main HWI site during the last 24 hours or so, apologies if anyone saw them, the website database seems to have been corrupted somehow. But now, it is fixed, as far as I can tell. Backups, you see.  Cheers, Dave |

Sorry about the missing forum icons, and difficulty in connecting to the main site, which is all due to the same thing: our website hosts are having problems with the server at the moment. Hopefully all will be well again within a few hours.
