Hello Belinda, It is a very good article, thanks for posting the scan. I wonder how far she is from platinum? It would be a well-deserved success. Stephany

Post 92, very interesting Belinda. I keep looking at that photograph and keep asking myself, 'are they sure they haven't got a Hayley picture there by mistake?'
My oh my. The young ones really are coming through. Makes me feel so old, grey and washed up!.

Your post 91 is very interesting, Stephany.
Not having heard the CD I cannot comment and you make it sound as though I should buy it for one reason that I shall cross-refer to the appropriate thread--the balance of the CD sounds very interesting and likely to appeal to a wide range of people, an aspect I think Hayley should bear in mind with her future CD.

Hello Joe, and welcome to the forum! Maybe you should contact Elizabeth and ask her! Who knows, maybe you are somehow related from a distance! I think Hayley and Elizabeth have very distinct styles, but i have noticed a lot of comparisons. That is a very good thing, but i hope it's not making Elizabeth feeling 'too' compared! Remember Hayley vs CC.... Oh well, at least Hayley is a great role model, and heck, i'd love to be compared to her. Unlike being compared to others... Dori

Hello Dori,
The comparison is natural when you want to introduce Elizabeth: she's young, she's from NZ and she belongs to the 'classical crossover' music genre. Like Hayley.
But seriously, the comparison stops there. If I had listened to Elizabeth's debut album without knowing all that, I certainly would have never thought of comparing them. Their styles are quite different and Elizabeth has her own personality and roots (Maori, French and Scottish from what I understand).
I consider singers as storytellers and I think Elizabeth is a very, very good one. Now, her CD may be very good but we still don't know her 'value' as a stage performer. I look forward to seeing her in concert - that could be a glorious event!

Stephany There is more to the comparison that this Stephany, Both singers were discovered by the same person, and because they are both from New Zealand, Marvelly is now playing many of the same types of venues as Hayley did back in say 2001. More disturbingly, - and I will try to phrase this in a way that wont offend anyone -the picture of her in that article certainly bears a remarkable resemblance to some of Hayley's publicity photos. In fact the resemblance in my opinion is too close to be a coincedence. Jon

Several members here, including myself, have already commented on Elizabeth's remarkable likeness to Hayley in a fair few pictures that have been posted of her on this forum. Best wishes Grant

Hello Jon, Granted, there is a ressemblance. But I'd like to think that it's only a coincidence. There is real talent there! Stephany

Jon, it doesn't hurt that EM bears a resemblance to HW, but at the end of the day it all comes down to how a singer sounds, not how she looks, and that's really what's at stake for those promoting EM. Her voice sounds quite wonderful and doesn't remind me in the least of Hayley's.

Let me put it this way Stephany. I have seen pictures of Elizabeth where she merely resembles Hayley - to that extent you are correct. However, I have also seen other pictures - the one in post 92 above comes to mind - where her hair is similar, the makeup is similar, the lighting is similar, and even the facial expression is similar. She doesnt merely resemble Hayley in that picture - she could be Hayley..... Perhaps being iinvolved in indirectly involved in marketing on and off throughout my professional career has made me more cynical than I should be Jon

at the end of the day it all comes down to how a singer sounds, not how she looks, So, Steve, are you saying that if a singer sounded as good as Hayley but weighed 300 pounds that this would no effect whatsoever on her career??? Jon

Hi Stephany and Steve I don't think anyone is questioning Elizabeth's talent by these latest remarks; in my view it's just an observation on her appearance. It has already been noted in this thread that she doesn't like the comparison with Hayley, yet her publicity continues to depict a very real likeness; so much so that some of the paparazzi have miscredited her picture! Best wishes Grant
