Elizabeth posted this in her blog. It seems she had a great time.
"The Golden Compass! Wow, it was amazing!
Last night was the gala dinner for the premiere of the Golden Compass. Walking up the red carpet (past an animated crowd of Hong Kong paparazzi) we went past a catwalk of Dior models then into the most elaborate restaurant set up I've ever seen- it was like we were eating in a big ice crater with huge glittery ice-berg walls. Beautiful.
It was amazing, I wish you all could've seen it. I sang 'Love Can Build...', 'La Vie En Rose' and 'Tarakihi', which were all received well, had the best dessert of my life and then went through to watch the movie. I think that it's very well made- I would definitely recommend going along to see it. Just a warning though: be careful if you're taking little kids, as there's a polar-bear fight scene which had ME quite terrified! I couldn't quite imagine seeing it as a small child.
Anyway, the whole evening was fantastic and a night that I won't ever forget. I adore Hong Kong. It is fast-paced, wildly exciting, fascinating and extremely addictive! We're hoping to release the album there in early 2008, so I hope to be back very soon!
I'm in Sydney now and will be returning home on the 24th of December. Looking forward to getting home, but I'm still having a lot of fun. I'll be meeting with the EMI crew over here and a few other organisations, singing at the carols, then heading back to the land of the long white cloud (although hopefully by then there will be no cloud at all- pretty please let it be summery!).
If you get the opportunity to go to Hong Kong; go! I feel very grateful to have had the chance to experience such an amazing place.
Merry Christmas to you all!
Elizabeth x"

Hello all, I just wanted to say that i asked Elizabeth if she would let me run a blog the way i do for Hayley, and she was very happy about the idea. So i've created a new blog titles Elizabeth's Empire. I only started it today, so it is very, very bare. You can still have a look: elizabethmarvellysempire.blogspot.comI will be sending more updates soon. Check back! Dori

Hi Starbuck, I didn't know that Elizabeth hadn't been to HK before but yeah I have to agree it definitely rocks as a place to visit. With exactly the atmosphere that she mentioned. I have to admit however that I still wish the British were in control there, as it gave HK a bit of "character". I still remember seeing British "bobbies" once and awhile when visiting. I still am trying to figure out where i can get this album so if any of you folks have been having success let me know and i'll give it a go... thanks... Peter T. PS: nice work Dori!! PPS: Starbuck, I'm just north of you in Grand Rapids area... nice to see another Michigander on here

Hello Belinda, No, i really wanted to - and tried to - go to te Elizabeth, Hayley and Shaun one, but it finishing that late at night with no one to get me home made it a little unsafe for me. I'm still finding out about all these concerts before making a final decision.

Hi Belinda, I know - it was totally stupid for me to not choose to go to that one, but by the time the tickets went on sale, it was just impossible to have made that final decision by then. As i said to Roger, if it doesn't happen this year, Hayley will always hold concerts in NZ sometime soon again. Let's see what happens in the coming months though.

Great news, Belinda!
Gold in just five days!
- And she doesn't want to be compared to Hayley.
I wish her new CD would arrive from NZ soon.

Hi Paddy, Hope you receive soon your Elizabeth Marvelly CD. Mine arrived fairly quickly to France. The album is overall very good. Two songs are written by Elizabeth and they are both very appealing. 'When you are sad?' is especially very moving. As a fan of movie soundtracks, I was very interested to hear her versions of theme songs for movies like Pearl Harbor, Shrek and the Empire of the Sun. I wasn't disappointed. She also makes tribute to her Maori roots with two songs in New Zealand's native language. Tarakihi is impressive! Finally, Elizabeth makes justice to two great French songs. I was very intrigued to hear La Vie En rose and it is excellent. I must admit that her pronounciation was very good. I was a bit disappointed by the duet with Alfie Boe though. It doesn't work for me. But overall I loved the album and I strongly recommend it to everyone! Thank you Elizabeth and keep up the excellent job. Stephany
