I have just listened to her new album I got today and first impressions is that she has a lovely voice and sings a wide range of music from classical, Maori, country-pop to easy listening pop. I think I will like this album. She even sings 2 of her own pop songs which were very good. Here is a list of the songs:- There You'll Be pop song written by Diane Warren 2001 and sung by Faith hill from the movie Pearl Harbour. Love can Build A Bridge Country Pop written by the Judds 1990. Tarakihi Ancient Maori action chant made famous by Kiri Te Kanawa. It is at least 300 years old about Cicadas and is a type of Haka. Flower Duet We all know this song from Lakme. When You Are Sad written by Elizabeth. This is a sad pop song about child abuse and is very moving. The Road and the Miles to Dundee is a traditional Scottish folk song. Stranger In Paradise 1953 musical Kismet and is a duet with Alfie Boe. Far Away written by Elizabeth and is another lovely pop song. La Vie En Rose by Edith Piaf 1946 and recently in movie of same name. It Is You by Dana Glover for the soundtrack of Shrek. Suo Gan Welsh lullaby by unknown composer and appears in the film Empire Of the Sun. Parlez-Moi D'Amour by Jean Lenoir 1930. He Wawata written by Ana Hato in 1950s and is a Maori artist song and not a folk song. This album is well worth getting.

I don't know for sure myself how to pronounce the Marvelly surname... I've been in contact with some Marvelly's in England (not in Elizabeth's immediate family) for family history reasons and can ask... in fact I'll do so right now... So maybe someone in the know can tell us how to pronounce her last name.... Is it MARvelly or marVELLy?

Thanks! I finally got a reply today from a Marvelly (from England) and they said they hadn't decided but usually went with the second version as it was easier for others to deal with So I guess the consensus is that in NZ its MARvelly, and in England its either way - haha...

Sir Howard Morrison seems very wise. Must be very good to have someone like that as a mentor. I certainly hope people don't always bring up Hayley comparisons... I doubt Hayley would even like that. At any rate you can tell she is totally her own person. Peter PS: interesting that she grew up listening to my 8th cousin (Britney Spears) I certainly hope she doesn't go down that route! Hello,
I have just seen the interview of Elizabeth on 'Sunrise' (www.tv3.co.nz) for Christmas in the Park and she doesn't seem to like the comparison with Hayley!

Hi all, One of your members, Peter Tong, sent me a link to your website and I must say that I'm overwhelmed by your support. I thought that I'd just pop by to say thank you. I don't think I'll really get a chance to stop by much because things are so flat out at the moment, but when I can, I will. I do regularly update my bebo site and can be found also on facebook, and my own website is also updated as regularly as possible (although not as much as I'd like at the moment- somethings must fall by the wayside when we're busy I suppose). To clarify, it is "MAR-velly", although I've been told that before my family moved to NZ if was "Mar-VEL-ly", so there you go. I hope that you all have a fantastic Christmas and holiday period and thanks again for your support; it means a lot to me. Elizabeth x

Your family 'change of name' is similar to my own family's experience and I wonder if it is for the same reasons. My brother-in-law's name is Beuttler but as actor and writer his father used the name 'Butler' because no one would spell 'Beuttler' correctly (as in 'boy...'). Likewise my maternal grandfather's name was Camroux (the family moved from France to the UK because of the persecution of the Huguenots four centuries ago). Likewise, since no one instinctively knew how to spell 'Camroux' he traded, when he had his own clothing shop, as Cameron. As a young boy I can recall many people in the town still referring to him and addressing him as 'Mr Cameron'. Perhaps there was a business reason for your family's change of name which went beyond the specific need? Peter S.

Hi Peter. One half of my family were Huguenots and also left France for Ireland only to be greeted some time later by the famine. This may explain our common relationship with the guillotine Heads will roll ! comet PS.. Elizabeth sounds wonderful
