Hi Libby
I think Josh has recorded a duet with Barbra for her new album, the song is Somewhere from West Side Story (I think).
I personally would love a Hayley and Josh duet, but like you said it seems unlikely. I thought that Katherine Jenkins and Josh were more likely to duet when she went to Warner and worked with David Foster, but that did not happen either, but then I don't think their voices would work together as well as Josh and Hayley. On his last album Josh did a duet with Laura Pausini and that surprised me as I don't think she is that well known, although I know she has worked with Andrea Bocelli, but then so has Hayley.
I would also love for her to song with Tabernacle Choir, I have seen them on YouTube and think they are amazing.
I think we could hold out hope for some film music, maybe not anything middle earth which is a shame because I think Hayley's voice is perfect for it, but Hayley has sung for films before (Merchant of Venice) and so could again and it would be even better if it was something she wrote

Well, so you see, maybe someone fairly unknown isn't out of the question for Josh. I think a lot of Josh fans actually do know who Hayley is. The fact that he duetted with Charlotte Church, and the fact that Hayley was supposedly a "new Charlotte Church" at one time, means people who were interested in singers like Charlotte could very well have noticed when another similar type of singer was introduced. I think back then new singers like her were more popular because that was when crossover music was booming, I think, what with Sarah and Andrea, then Josh and Charlotte. So, Hayley would have been more likely to be interesting to people who liked them. Susie, unfortunately there are very few movies that have theme songs like the Tolkien movies have. The only other major one I can think of is Titanic. I doubt many people paid any attention to the Merchant of Venice. This is why the Hobbit would have been the best thing, because it's the only major film that she'd be likely to be chosen for. What other popular movies are there? They are mostly just comedies, action/sci-fi films, and a few dramatic ones. But I never hear any major songs from any of them. There were some songs that were used in the Twilight films, but I'm not sure if they were already existing songs, or if they were written especially for the films. But for the most part, already-existing tunes are used in movies, either that or just orchestration. At the end of that one movie with Zack Efron, The Lucky Ones, I think, they used the song The Story by my [other] favorite singer Brandi Carlile. That song was out years before the movie was. Oh, and her song Heart's Content was used in the middle of Safe Haven. So, anyway, if a movie could use an existing song by Hayley, that would be amazing too. However, none of her songs are recent enough, or the ones that are recent are not new or original songs. I think she has to make herself (or be allowed to be) new and relevant as an artist before anyone in the movie industry or popular singers will pay her any mind again. So there's another reason the next album or so will be very important. She needs to promoted, of course, too. You're right, since neither Josh nor Hayley are opera singers, their voices definitely would work much better together. Josh may have a powerful voice, but he's not trained in opera, nor do I think he should ever bother trying. It doesn't suit him that well, and he is more of a songwriter, anyway. If Hayley could just get David Foster on her side a lot more, she might have better connections that way. Josh doesn't work with DF much anymore, but the fact that he has means he's still somewhat connected, I would imagine anyway. I think if she ever wants to come to the US again, it might behoove her to work with DF. It's probably the only thing that would ever really help. Better chance than Katherine because she's not opera. Opera is okay for Jackie, because she was only about 11 when she started, and is still only... 14?

Of course Hayley recorded a whole film soundtrack with James Horner (of Titanic fame) for "The New World". I will never forgive Thomas Mallick for not using it in the actual film. It is available on CD though, and I have a copy.

I had another thing going last year that I was excited about, something I made a bit of a project out of even. Although it wouldn't have been nearly as huge as the Hobbit, it stil would've been wonderful and been seen by lots of people. But I'm seeing evidence that it probably won't be this time, if ever at all. I'm not going to say what it is right now, so I don't "jinx" it (I don't really believe in that, but just in case). Maybe when I find out whether it'll happen or not, I'll tell you about it. Have been doing a lot of thinking about what you may have up your sleeve for promoting Hayley. Something has just come to mind that I should have thought of almost as soon as I had finished reading what you had written. If I'm correct, I think that it would be very nice. But, yes, don't jinx it! Am hoping that you can pull it off. BobS

Well, now you have me curious, Bob. I'm now wondering if there's something else I should do that I haven't thought of yet! But let's let it go for now.
I will say it's like the Hobbit in that there could be more than one chance for it to happen... though if it doesn't happen right away, I wouldn't hold out much hope. And as I said, I have seen a hint that indicates it's not likely to be this year. I won't give up till I have to, though. Anyway, as I say, it might not really have that big of a result. It still would be wonderful if it did happen.

I filled out the survey, but I don't want that song. I already have it with Josh singing it by himself, and that's all I want. It was certainly nice to hear them singing the song together on the tour, but I have no need of it. Hey, does Josh ever stop in Alabama? Or are you the only one from Alabama who likes Josh? LOL

Heh, I can't be the only one! I frequently see his albums in our local used book store, but they disappear pretty quickly too. But, now that you mention it, Josh has actually never performed in Alabama. The closest he's gotten is singing the National Anthem at the 2010 BCS National Football Championship between AL and TX (we won, BTW). And he only performed in Georgia twice, once in 2011 and 2013. Needless to say, the south isn't exactly a hotbed of Josh-ish (or really any classical-crossover) activity. But maybe he'll swing around to Atlanta again during the next tour. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

I was just kidding. I know there are several other Alabama Hayley fans, including artist1. Anyway, I'm sure Oprah, who probably has/had plenty of southern fans, would have had some influence with her own admiration of Josh Groban. He was even one of her "favorite things" for her Christmas show the year that his album Noel came out.

Thanks! I think there's supposed to be more than one thing coming out in the near future... I think one is supposed to be what I would not call a "real" Josh album. LOL At least that's what I think I heard somewhere.

LOL I prefer him in the suit. I don't normally prefer dressy men, but Josh just looks best well-dressed to me. Him dressed in sweats (like those in the Illuminations shoot) don't do much for me. He should save those outfits for lazy days at home. IMO
