Hi Portia,
Maybe it isn't entirely fair on the Choirboys to withdraw support. However, there is a matter of principal here. Gerrit does a fine job for so many singers but, if he is prevented for doing the job properly, I don't blame him for taking the decision not to do it at all. In his position, I would have made the same decision, albeit reluctantly.

Yes, I understand and completely respect his decision. I just think that if you like the artist, don't deprive yourself the pleasure of enjoying his/her art.

Hello again everybody! The Choirboys' CD has been released in the UK today, and it is available in HMV at a special offer price of £9.99.I'm not going to buy it just yet, because "Do You Hear What I Hear?", which they recorded with Hayley, is going to be included in a compilation album "A Classic Christmas", due for release in the UK next week. Best Wishes, Richard

Why not just make a sub forum for this group?

Why not just make a sub forum for this group? Good idea Nicola, consider it done. This thread currently has the highest number of replies (64) and the highest number of views (629) of any thread in Other Music without its own board. Dave

Hi all.
Hayley introduced The Choirboys at St James and they were impressive. For me, it was a combination of the singing voices and the youth of the members. Take the visual effect away and think of sound only. Either you like the treble voice or you do not. And/or you like the songs sung and their rendition. Surely those are the questions to ask yourself? No, I am not going to give an opinion nor say what my choice is. I'm trying to be objective since opinions were sought. Peter

I saw The Choir Boys at St James Church as well, but there was only 4 songs. I didn't like all of them but was impressed by 'Tears In Heaven'

Hello everybody! I saw the Choirboys when they appeared with Hayley at St. James's Church in Piccadilly back in September, and I've also heard a few songs from their CD on BBC Radio 2. They are good, but I was only going to buy their album for "Do You Hear What I Hear?" which they sing with Hayley. As this song is going to be included on a 2-CD compilation "A Classic Christmas", due to be released in the UK next Monday, I'm going to buy that instead. Best Wishes, Richard

Having bought the album a couple of days ago I would definitely recommend it. Do You Hear What I Hear and Tears In Heaven are definitely highlights but there are so many more superb tracks, it is a really great record. It is especially nice to hear these song at Christmas time.

I've just seen that The choirboys album entered the charts at Number 32 - does anybody know what number it has entered the classical charts at? Also there is a rather fun game that I found at their official site: www.thechoirboys.co.uk/games/sneaky/site.html

I've just seen that The choirboys album entered the charts at Number 32 - does anybody know what number it has entered the classical charts at? Hi Sal, I certainly do know, it's at no. 2 in the Classical Artist chart and it will be no. 3 the Classic FM Chart (The No. 1 Classical Album 2006 was slightly ahead in sales and will be no. 2 there). If you'd like to see the full Classical Artist top 10, I posted it here on Sunday evening. The Choirboys sold about 31,000 copies last week, about 10,000 behind Katherine Jenkins so not too far behind the top classical album. Cheers, Dave

Thanks for the game Sal! After about a dozen attempts, I finally succeeded to place the whoopee cushion on the vicar's chair, and I scored 3,065! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI'm going to quit while I'm behind! Best Wishes, Richard

I tried the game too but I'm not going to mention that at all, because I can't do it! A little bird now tells me that The Choirboys have increased their sales substantially at the start of this week and are catching Katherine - they have a chance of taking the number 1 from her in at least one of the classical charts next week. In next week's Classic FM chart (they always run 6 days behind), it will be harder for them because The Number 1 Classical Album 2006 is catching Katherine even faster than The Choirboys. Next week's charts could be quite exciting Dave

As we have been advised that the Choirboys are no longer performing together, we have decided to discontinue their sub-board. In order to keep all their posts in one place, I have moved the following two posts into this thread. Roger Hello everybody!
The Choirboys were on Friday Night is Music Night last night. The show was introduced by Aled Jones, and Bryn Terfel was also a guest. You can listen to the programme at any time until next Friday via the following link (Real Player required):-

Best Wishes,
Richard As this is particularly relevant to the Choirboys, I will post it here:
Choirboys' album among Brit award nominations David Hogg
THE debut album by the world's first choirboy band could scoop the top prize at the Classical Brit awards next month.
The Choirboys album has been nominated alongside Aled Jones, former Emmerdale star Amy Nuttall, teenage sensation Hayley Westenra and last year's winner Katherine Jenkins in the Album of the Year category. Chosen from nearly 1,000 hopefuls in 50 school choirs up and down the country, two of the Choirboys, Ben Inman, 13, and CJ Porter-Thaw, 11, are from Yorkshire. Ben is from Melmerby, near Ripon, and attends the Minster School, Southwell, Nottinghamshire, while CJ was born in Sheffield and is at King's School, Ely. They were talent-spotted during auditions, together with the final band member – 12-year-old Patrick Aspbury – and landed a reputed £500,000 contract with record giant Universal Classics. The boys will be joined at the Classical Brit award ceremony in the Royal Albert Hall by teenage violin virtuoso Nicola Benedetti . Benedetti, 18, from West Kilbride, Ayrshire, in Scotland, is in the running for Album of the Year and Young British Classical Performer. She became the youngest person to lead an orchestra at the age of nine and won BBC Young Musician of the Year in 2004. Composer and musician Karl Jenkins is up for the Contemporary Music Award and Album of the Year, while fellow Welshman Bryn Terfel is nominated for Album of the Year and Singer of the Year. 11 April 2006
