Thanks for posting that performance Dave - I missed it when it was on TV. I know what you mean about the end where it gets faded out and they start talking over it, but it was still a really nice performance. I'm not sure if I prefer it to Tears In Heaven - but it was still great and it was nice to hear something different.

Okay, am I the only one who wasn't and isn't impressed by them?
There's a two-page spread in The Sun (not mine, someone else at work buys it!), and they're just a made-for-order group with a lot of good publicity. Maybe with some more experience under their belt, they'll come across better, but after seeing them once, I really am not inclined to see them again.
My opinion anyway..

Fair enough Chris. I can believe that are 'made-for-order' but they are only kids. I thought they were rather sweet - not good enough for me to buy their album since I'm not really into the choir boy thing (apart from Libera... I can listen to them). But I thought their vocals were very impressive for their age. I don't think they are going to stick around or be famous... I think they are a christmas thing, then they'll die out. But best of luck to them. Maybe will we see them again when they are bit older. x x x

Hey! I like Andrew Lloyd Webber! Why does everyone joke about him Hi Nicola! It wasn't ALW I was joking about, only the fact that it's "the usual Pie Jesu". In a quick search of allmusic.com, I can see that about 75% of all recordings of Pie Jesu are of the ALW composition, with the remaining 25% shared between all the others. As I said, I like it - but some people think it's one of those "overdone" songs, don't they? Cheers, Dave

Hi Nicola, Fair point. I think it was said that they weren't intended to be around in their present guise for long, but rather alternate through people while the group remains the same. The selling of the group, rather than the individuals ~Chris P.S. Care Bear Stare!

The Choirboys are one of 5 nominations for video of the month November competition on Classic FM TV.
Here are voting details (UK residents):
The Choirboys 'Tears in Heaven' text:' 'CLASSIC 3' to 84211 phone: 0901 114 6403
As a result of a nationwide search, the amazing vocal talent of these three boys is more than evident in this debut album. This moving rendition of the Eric Clapton song Tears in Heaven is just one from the album...

I once read an article that said Andrew Lloyd Webber would be living comfortably if he had only written that one song... I now believe it.

Hello everybody! I've already posted about this on the "Hayley in the Media" board, but it seems appropriate to mention it here as well. Last night I listened to 'Melodies For You' on BBC Radio 2, and about 13 minutes into the programme Sheridan Morley played the Choirboys singing "The Lord Is My Shepherd". It sounded great, and then the next item was Hayley's version of "O Mio Babbino Caro". Hearing the two pieces played consecutively was a truly delightful experience! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifYou can listen to the programme again at any time until next Sunday by clicking on the following link (Real Player required):- www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/melodies/Best Wishes from London, Richard

thanks Richard , here is a interview I found. www.bbc.co.uk/essex/content/articles/2005/10/27/music_the_choirboys_feature.shtmlInterview: The Choirboys Singing trio, The Choirboys talk to BBC Essex's Steve Scruton about recording their debut album and being this year's Christmas number one. The Choirboys: Patrick Aspbury Name: Patrick James Aspbury From: Chelmsford Date of Birth: 09.06.93 Choir: Ely Cathedral Choir School: The King's School, Ely, Cambridgeshire Patrick Aspbury, from Chelmsford, is part of a singing trio hoping to pip Westlife to the post in the race to be Christmas number one. Patrick Aspbury, 12, and CJ Porter-Thaw, 11, were both members of the choir at the King's School in Ely, Cambridgeshire. Whilst Ben Inman, 12, was singing in the choir at state-run Minster School in Southwell, Nottinghamshire when they were discovered by talent scouts who visited 50 cathedrals and churches across the UK. They've now landed a £500,000 deal with Universal Classics, and spent the summer recording their debut album. The Choirboys, described as a mini version of the Three Tenors, are being guided by their co-manager - the Welsh former choirboy star Aled Jones. Their album includes both choral music like Ave Maria and interpretations of rock tunes such as Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven.

I also found this. www.bbc.co.uk/nottingham/content/articles/2005/10/26/the_choirboys_ben_inman_feature.shtmlVoice of an angel A Nottinghamshire choirboy is part of a trio tipped to be top of the pops this Christmas. Ben Inman, from Southwell in Nottinghamshire, is part of a trio of young lads hoping to climb the charts this Christmas. Discovered Ben, who's just 12 years old, sings for the cathedral choir at Southwell Minster and was discovered following a nationwide search across 50 UK cathedrals and churches. Listen to our interview with Ben > Audio and Video links on this page require Realplayer "Aled Jones opened a concert in the Minster and because he came to Southwell his manager asked our rector whether he had anyone to put forward for the audition." "We were the last cathedral choir to get auditioned so me and this other boy went for this audition." "A few days later we were in the car coming home from school and this lady phoned and I was really excited as I didn't think I'd get it." CJ Porter-Thaw, Ben and Patrick Aspbury Ben has been singing since he was five. "I sang in a play at school and everyone said I was really good, so when my Dad got a job in Nottinghamshire, he decided to send me to a school with a choir." "I went to an open day (at Southwell Minster) and really enjoyed singing with the choir." Practice Singing isn't seen as a substitute for normal lesson. "We do choir outside school. We do choir before school and after school. I do 40 minutes practice before and afterwards I go to Evensong and I do six services a week." Hopes and dreams Ben's still got his feet firmly on the ground. "I'm hoping that I get a good adult voice and then go to the Royal School of Music, but I've got a back up plan if not. I'd like to go to Cirencester Agricultural College." And what of the winter record release? "It would be really good if we could be number one at Christmas." Future riches Described as a junior version of the Three Tenors, the Choirboys landed a £500,000 deal with music giant Universal Classics. Is Ben looking forward to getting his cash on the money shortly? "No. Our parents are going to look after our money but we're hoping there'll be enough left over to buy us a little gift." Listen to our interview with Ben > Audio and Video links on this page require Realplayer The Choirboys album is released on Monday, 7th November 2005. All proceeds from their first single, a version of Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton go to the NSPCC. Well, I have just deleted the index page for the Choirboys which I recently added to Young Classical Performers on MSN.
It would appear that people involved with the management of this group disapprove of videos been made available and lodged a complaint with MSN. After which MSN approached the managers of the group and asked for removal of the page - or face removal of the entire group.
Suits me fine - if the Choirboy's management is so shortsighted that they can't see that such publicity is only to the benefit of the performers - I'll gladly comply.
From now on of course, I shall not be supporting them anymore. My next step will be to remove those videos from my server.

I agree with you Gerrit. The Choirboy's management is shortsighted. The work you did help them to promote the Choirboy's. When I first knew who is Hayley, I searched on the internet, there are many good Hayley websites such as HWI etc... I found your Russell and Hayley group is also very good especially there are many Hayley videos. There are many Hayley interviews. I had the chance to know more about Hayley by watching the videos. Also, there are many clips containing Hayley singing many different songs, these clips told me that Hayley has an angelic voice. Of course, there are music samples on different websites, but it is very different to listen to the own songs on video clips. So, I appreciate your work and think that you have done a great job. The Choirboy's management is shortsighted.

Hi Gerrit, this is sad news and you are right, it's a very short-sighted attitude from their Management team (assuming that it isn't mischiefmaking by someone else). Grrr. Better safe than sorry though, so I've had a look through this thread and have deleted any direct links I found to their videos - both on your site and my personal web pages. Cheers, Dave

Hi Gerrit,
What a sad situation. The attitude of their management really is very shortsighted - the perfect word for it. However, if they don't require the free publicity that you were happy to give the Choirboys, I am sure your valliant efforts will be appreciated elsewhere.

Well, if you do like the Choirboys as singers, I don't think it's very fair to withdraw completely support from them simply because their managers are jerks (if it really is the management).
