Hi Roger and Stephanie, Roger, I did once mention 12 tracks as being fairly normal for solo albums in NZ and Oz, perhaps that's what you are thinking of? In the US, in this week's classical crossover chart, there are 10 standard "artist" albums i.e. excluding Soundtracks, orchestral movie music, Live concerts and "Greatest Hits" compilations. Here they all are, with number of tracks on each: 13 - Il Divo, Il Divo 13 - Josh Groban, Closer 12 - Amici Forever, Defined 13 - Andrea Bocelli, Andrea 12 - Amici Forever, The Opera Band 14 - Renee Fleming, Haunted Heart 14 - Ronan Tynan, Ronan 12 - Bond, Classified (12 tracks + 1 remix) 13 - Hayley Westenra, Pure 12 - Mario Frangoulis, Follow Your Heart. I think Katherine's La Diva had only 12 tracks as well, so it looks like only the biggest or well established crossover singers have more than 12 track albums and even then, no more than 14. It probably all comes down to money... how much the record company expect to make from each album and as Pure didn't do as well as Universal hoped in the US, Odyssey may have been restricted to 12 tracks this time. I guess Hayley was lucky to be allowed 13 tracks last time. Because album prices are lower in the US than in the UK, there is probably less room to add extra tracks as obviously, costs will increase a lot, on an album of new tracks. It seems to me that Steve was saying this is a Record Company decision, like for the track listings in different Countries. Stephanie, I can see why you are only getting the International and UK versions... that should cover most if not all the available tracks and in your place, I'd probably do the same. In fact, I will probably will do exactly the same as you anyway! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifCheers, Dave

Just to let some of you know the reasons why cds in the US are ceaper is we do not have that tax. And when we get cds from the UK we do not have to paid VAt. So in the end it is not as much as the people in the UK. So I do not think this has anything to do with how many songs. I think it is more to do with that the cd in the frist places was just going to have 12 songs and if you think about it some of the songs on the Uk one are not new. Were from movies. I like it how there are people that do some stuff for things and do not put tham on there cds.
I also go by length of a cd and some of the cds you put up are about 60 mins. and the funny thing is I have like all though cds but like 2 of tham I do not have.

I do not think has anything to do with the cost of a Cd there are many Cd's over 12 tracks here in the USA.not everything Cd in the UK has more track's the Cd's in the US.The normal price for a cd here is 18.99 that is when a Cd is not on sale .A 12 track cd should be lest then that but they are not.

Hello everybody! Many thanks to Steve for clearing this one up. Now I'm really looking forward to buying and hearing the UK version. I already love everything on the Australian version, so I'm pleased the UK version is going to be quite different. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBye for now, Richard

I'm just pleased that the UK track listing has finally been decided. Knowing that it was going to be slightly different to the international version I think it was inevitable that it wasn't going to please everybody. But I'm sure its still a fantastic album and I can't wait to hear the full album.

Hopefully everyone here will get every track by ordering as many versions as necessary. After all, we are Hayley's greatest fans in the world, aren't we? Roger Except some of us don't exactly have the resources to buy 3 or 4 versions of the same CD just to get a few additional songs...it drives me bonkers.

I've just listened to the UK version of Odyssey for the first time. All I can say is... I absolutely LOVE it!I'm sorry, I can't do a review at the moment (we must start a review thread). Why? Well for a start, I'm going to play it again... and secondly, I am still crying after listening to Dido's lament at the end. It reminded me of something very personal. I'm afraid you'll just have to imagine what that could be for yourselves... What a fabulous album. Dave. Edit - I'm not even halfway through the second play. Mmmmm, Quantia Qualia... 64 minutes of bliss for only £9.77, bargain of the year! I could end up liking this better than Pure Hasn't anyone else got it??? i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Hi Dave, I saw it in town today but resisted the temptation because, as you know, I will be at the signing session tomorrow. See you there! Roger PS. I wish I'd got it now.

I have to be up early in the morning but I can't go to bed yet... I'm playing Odyssey for the 4th time tonight and I can't stop! Just a few random comments... not a full review. Mists of Islay is gorgeous! Laudate Dominum, I love it! She Moves Through the Fair sounds even better to me, it's lost the pipes but the Irish whistle is fine and it may actually blend in with the surrounding tracks better! Bridal Ballad I like but I was unsuee about it being on Odyssey. But it blends in with the surrunding tracks perfectly. I LOVE the way they run Laudate Dominum into Wiegenlied without any break!!! I like Both Sides Now better as it is now, in between Quanta Qualia and May It Be. Dido's Lament amazes me. It's only the second part (When I am Laid In Earth) and I could not understand why anyone would finish an album with such a sad song. But, it works. It just works... and I don't know why! Whoever changed and finalised the order of this tracklisting is a genius. This album deserves to sell a million. They should have made the International version just like this. I LOVE IT!!!I may never play the Oz version ever again (except when I want to listen to the excellent two tracks at the end i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

What do you mean by that Dido's Lament is only the second part if so why would it be just that part . I have to be honet I like the wroung thing. But I will have to wait for my cd to come in the mail.
but I think I can understand why it would not have the frist part.

Hi Kimberly, I'm still here, listening to it for the 5th time, lol. Hayley does not include "Thy Hand, Belinda" which initially disappointed me. But 'When I am Laid in Earth' lasts for about 3m 40 s if i remember right, and it is a nice arrangement. I had to get used to such a high soprano voice singing it though, but now it sounds fine to me. And it made me cry, so it can't be too bad! Cheers, Dave

This is pure speculation though BTW, I really like "My Heart Belongs to You", it's one of the best tracks on the album!
