Hello everybody! Hayley Westenra is taking to the stage at the Jersey Opera House with two concerts in aid of the Jersey Side by Side charity on May 2 & 3, 2008. Please be aware that these concerts have not been confirmed by Bedlam Management. Tickets go on sale on Saturday 1 December 2007. Call 01534 511115 or buy your tickets online HERE . Funds raised will go towards the charity’s latest project, to build a girls school in the Pakistan town of Mera Bakot. The town was devastated in 2005 earthquake which killed tens of thousands and displaced hundreds of thousands more. By building the school educational opportunities for girls will become available in the town. Jersey Side by Side chairman Mike Wavell said that the concert was about raising as much awareness as possible about the work carried out by the charity and helping those affected by the earthquake. The cost of the project is £160,000 and the Jersey charity has committed itself to providing half that amount. Hopefully for Hayley (and us), the Classical Brit Awards 2008 won't be during the same weekend! Stephany

Wow, thanks for the news Stephany. As I was saying to Gordon on the way home the other night, we really do have to check the forum every day to keep up to date and make sure we don't miss anything and the forum is the best place to find out all the news first! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAnyway, I assume some people are thinking about going to Jersey? Friday or Saturday (or both?) I guess the Saturday show is more likely for a big HWI gathering? James

Hi Everybody,
I already have one trip to Jersey next year planned for a concert, and now I am looking into going to this one as well, although just for the Saturday show.
I just need to check flight information and I may well book myself a ticket.

Hi everyone,
As I mentioned to some of you yesterday, I managed to book tickets for both nights in Jersey (no point going all that way for one show!). I'd recommend calling rather than booking online, and don't get put off if you keep getting the answer machine.
I'm planning to book flights and hotels this week as it looks like better deals will be available if bookings are made before 2008.
Just to tempt some of you - it is bank holiday weekend in May, and I'm sure it will be more enjoyable if there are a group of us. :2fun: Flights look available from around £60 return (inc taxes).
Anyone who wants further information on my hotel, seats etc send me a PM and I'll let you know the details when I've sorted them out.
Cheers,
James

Hi Everybody, I have booked a ticket for the Saturday night. I would love to come on the Friday too, but I need to save my holidays at the moment. I have booked flights wiith EasyJet flying from Liverpool on Saturday morning and returning Sunday afternoon, the total cost for the flight is £55.46. I will be staying at the Royal Hotel - www.royalhoteljersey.com/, just a couple of minutes walk from St Helier town centre so shouldn't be far from the opera house. I'm looking forward to it. Dazza

Hi everyone, Finally got round to booking flight (from Gatwick) and hotel for Jersey concerts in May. There are still plenty of tickets available for both nights, but as it's May Day bank holiday weekend, accommodation is filling up fast so if anyone is planning to go I'd suggest they book accommodation soon. Please send me a PM if you want more details of flights, hotels etc. Cheers, James

Hi Everyone,
I saw Katherine Jenkins at Fort Regent in Jersey on Friday, Nicky Spence was the guest artist and told everybody that he will be coming back to Jersey in a few months with Hayley Westenra, so that is something else to look forward to. He was excellent, quite a comedian as well as a singer.
It was my first time in Jersey and for those going there are regular buses from the airport to St Helier for just £1.50, it takes about 20 minutes. Taxi's are £10. It is easy to get about St Helier on foot and the Opera House is well signposted in the town centre.
Jersey print their own money, you can use british pounds there but you can't use Jersey pounds here.

Hi Everyone,
I have had to come to a very tough decision and unfortunatly I am no longer able to attend this concert, despite having already paid for everything.
I now have a spare ticket for this concert, if anybody was considering going along but haven't yet booked a ticket, let me know either by replying to this thread or by PM.
The ticket is for the Saturday concert, in Section A, Row G, Seat 3 and cost £35.

Hi Dazza,
Sorry to hear thart you will be unable to make this concert and I hope you will be able to sell your ticket. I was originally thinking of going to Jersey but when the Belfast concert came up I decided to go for that one and spend a week with my family in Northern Ireland afterwards.
See you in Buxton.

Hi everyone, Pleased to say that I will be going to both of these concerts! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Thanks a lot Dazza for the Saturday evening ticket, a shame that you won't be able to make it to this one. Flying down with Flybe on Friday morning departing on Sunday so will have time on Saturday to see the place, Jersey is somewhere I have wanted to visit for some time. Cheers David
