Hi all, Thanks for all of your kind words on my report! Here are a few images and pictures taken after the concert as well as one of the outside of the venue, hope you enjoy them. Friday's program Saturday's program With a kiwi!! The Opera House - a narrow street meant this was about as close as I could get while still getting the full frontage With a member of the audience Posing! Hayley & Me Tried taking a couple inside the venue itself but they were of poor quality, I really need a better camera for that sort of thing. Your photos from inside the auditorium work well James, thanks for posting here! Your report also makes excellent reading, I'm glad you had a good time in Jersey. Just to add as well at this point that I'm very glad I went to both concerts rather than just the one, Dazza I owe you a huge thank you for giving me your ticket for the Saturday concert, I'm sorry you weren't able to come as you had originally planned as you would've had a wonderful time. Best wishes all David

After Nicky came a young musician from Paris called Celine Saout, who played beautifully on the harp “Etude de Concert” by Godefroid. Following this Hayley made her entry on the stage, dressed once again in her amazing red dress! With Celine playing the harp, Hayley did an absolutely wonderful performance of “Over the Rainbow”, the first time I have heard her sing this, followed by a joyful performance of “The Mummers Dance”, which has become a personal favourite of mine and one which I love to hear Hayley sing. Following this Hayley sang “May It Be” from Lord of the Rings, Handel’s moving “Lascia Ch’io Pianga”, then a playful rendition of “Santa Lucia” – never quite sure whether or not to trust the pianist for this one! Hayley was then left to perform “In Trutina” and finally “Hine E Hine”, marking the official end of the concert. And then came the encores, first Hayley on the piano singing “Sonny”, which once again she did confidently and with passion, and then finally singing “Pokarekare Ana”, much to the appreciation of the audience who began applauding as soon as she had started singing. Sounds like two great concerts! I thought Hayley singing Sonny in Belfast was brilliant, as I'm sure it was in Jersey. The Mummer's Dance and Over The Rainbow are two songs I'd like to hear Hayley perform live. Who is this Nicky Spence you referred to, David? Hi IrishHayleyFan, Nicky Spence is a young classical tenor singer from Dumfries in Scotland who performs operatic, oratorio and other recital works, and released his first album earlier this year. Don't know much more about him as this was the first time I saw and heard him having discovered him only recently. Staying on-topic, they were indeed both great concerts! The Mummer's Dance is one which I would particularly like to hear more of as it's a great song with a very catchy rhythm which Hayley performs brilliantly. Cheers David

Saturday
You’ll have seen from David’s scan that the set list for Saturday was very similar to Friday, although there was no harpist, hence no “Over The Rainbow” and another piece from Christopher and Emanuelle (“Salut d’Amour”) instead of the harp solo. The other change was Hayley substituting “Danny Boy” for “Lascia” in a change to the advertised programme.
Overall, I thought the performances of everyone were even better on Saturday night and the Musical Originals Singers were clearly more confident than on Friday. Nicky also commented that the crowd was better than on Friday, and the audience was slightly bigger at about 450 (so the auditorium was about three quarters full).
One very amusing moment was when the flowers were given out at the end - one of the girls from the choir had the privilege of presenting Nicky with a token of appreciation. He gave her a big kiss, and as she walked back off stage she gave a clenched fist sign to the audience in the way a sports person gees himself along.

[ After the first 3 songs flew by, Hayley took a breather and we were treated to Christopher George and Emmanuelle Dumas, a pair of local musicians performing “Chanson de Matin” as Christopher pointed out, not “Martin” as written in the programme. Hayley then returned to the stage with the choir to round off the first part of the show. It was great to hear different arrangements of Abide With Me and Amazing Grace. If my memory serves mright (help me out David), Abide With Me was sung purely a capella. Hayley said it reminded her of her days singing in a school choir. I could imagine that West Side Story would have been better with Nicky taking the part Vittorio played. ). Chanson de Martin? Anyone who has ever heard me sing would be horrified! Abide with me, completely a capella has always been the way I think Hayley should have sung it. The backing just gets in the way, no disrespect to the musicians involved, but to my ears it does. Sung like that, it would be an absolute Hayley masterpiece. Having heard Nicky sing (with Katherine Jenkins), I was impressed, and can understand what you say about WSS. I can imagine that "one hand, one heart" was quite something, Once again, there were several unique things in this concert that make me wish I had been there. Thanks again for the report. Martin

Thanks again to David and James for your superb reports and photographs. James, I'll concede that your arrival 28 hours before Friday's concert did indeed beat my record. Actually I walked past the Royal Albert Hall this morning, over 50 hours before the Classical Brit Awards, but I'm too local for that to count. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Best Wishes, Richard

Hello James & David, Thank you very much for your great reports & photographs. It looks as though the song list was very different to what we're used to -- I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the concerts. It was definitely the right decision to book twice in Jersey Hope you had a great weekend visiting the island as well. Stephany
