Hi Everyone,
This concert seems very interesting. I'm certainly up for this one.
I love Cornwall having spent almost every summer on holiday there as a child, I haven't been for a few years though so this would be the ideal opportunity to get down there for a few days/a week.
Truro is a city, so it should be easy enough to get there and there will be plenty of accommodation. I am certain that there will be bus services to the Killiow estate from there.

Interesting as I have been meaning to visit friends Cornwall way (though near Exeter) for some time and it would tie-in. However, probably due to the promoters I am sorry she isn't using the Minack ampitheatre where backstage falls off a several hundred foot cliff into the Atlantic ocean! Smaller venue BUT could be inclement and there is not normally provision for the actors/stage to be covered, hence too expensive for her to have what she needs, perhaps.

... the Minack ampitheatre where backstage falls off a several hundred foot cliff into the Atlantic ocean! ...But then she'd have to sing 'The Water is Deep'. It just would be the same somehow! Roger

Hi Thomas I've not looked at this one in great detail yet but Truro is quite a large town with plenty of accommodation and a railway station. You should be able to find something at www.booking.com. Best wishes Grant I corrected the link. RichardBut remember, are we still not in the holiday season, although I don't know what term time is these days but in any case immediately after the schools go back many rely on the resultant sanity and as the organisers' site says, they expect people from far further than Cornwall. I have not yet had the opportunity to catch up on the other pages on this thread but as usual Hayley's official site is still behind the times although I do like its typographical rehash. Peter S.

Hi Stephany Thank you for the update. This festival is beginning to look very interesting and I'm getting quite excited about it! Do we know whether or not all performances will be the same? I couldn't find anything more than you have already stated. Wonder if I can afford to go to all five Lots of Love Grant xxx What!? Frankly my reaction (initial) but then seeing the tickets I would want that's £500 +hotel etc! I think I will go for early in the week. I will make my own decision but advise my friends that way to consider it regardess of when. Peter S.

Hi Peter and everyone
I was originally considering this one and even though Hayley is headlining, ticket prices for the best seats at £100 are a bit pricy, so I think, all things considered, I will give this one a miss and hope for a few more intimate venues along the way.
Best wishes Grant

Best wishes Grant In reply to your post 37 Grant, oh, I pressed 'quote' by mistake, never mind, I would probably do the same if there were not very sound (other than Hayley's ) reasons for being down there anyway, unless, as I said in my letter to my friends, 'I suppose you will now tell me you have (or will be very quickly as this letter progresses) booked a trip to Outer Mongolia during this period!' Never mind, I have other friends on the way down, in Taunton, and I do like the area. I will probably dive off and visit Betjeman's grave and that area as well. Love Betjeman. Peter S. I fixed the smiley in the brackets. Richard

Hi Everyone interested in this gig.
My experiences to date. 1. Very pleasant lady on the box office when I rang who was quite prepared to find out information not to her hand.
2. I tried last night to book on the web site. It has one of those facilities tor preventing automatic mass bookings but which ever combination I used it would not let me pass saying I hadn't typed in the required word It isn't a word, it's the usual jumble of characters very widely spaced and I tried combinations of placing a space between the letters and also ignoring spaces and only putting in the characters but all to no avail. She is reporting it to the web master on Monday when he is next in.
3.The £100 tickets per head to include dinner are for parties of 8 or 10. Clearly the intention is that you book a table. Consequently these are not available under normal booking arrangements.
4. The tables have the best seats, of course which means that even the £60 seats are somewhat to the side of the stage. It is therefore arguable if it would not be better to go for a cheaper seat which may be more directly in front of the stage if further away probably behind the dining tables but presumably tiered--a point I forgot to ask at the time. It would appear one must allow for waiters jigging up and down around the tables--very irritating.
5. Ample booking available at the moment, booking office has only been open ten days.
6. This new perspective on what I thought was originally offered (I had intended to book a £100 ticket) has made me sit back a moment and better think through my intentions.
Yours all aye for now.
Peter S.

More info about this Festival: [/color] Alfie Boe's first break came in Baz Luhrmann's production of Puccini's La Boheme. His lead performance on Broadway led to him winning a Tony Award. Organisers are over the moon at their double coup, especially as it is the first time the two stars will be appearing together on stage. They will appear separately but will also sing duets on all five nights. A concert at the HfC in May will be in aid of the three charities supported by Camellia musical director Alistair Taylor.
