Hi Fellow racers I have just spoken to a young lady at Newmarket Races, as there is not a lot of information on their website. Doors Open at 11.00AM, 2 1/2 Hours before the first race, which is 1.30 PM. The last race is at 4.55PM and Hayley is due to perform for about one hour from 5.15PM Chairs are not allowed in the race course, so the concert is basically standing (or sitting on the grass) there is a grandstand close by, but that is at the side of the stage. The best position she said was standing just in front of the stage. I hope that clears up any queries, see you all there! Steve H

Hi folks.
I have finally caught up with myself. Some while back I promised to report on the sitatuion with tickets which I had for the evening but which implied I could also attend the races and in the Members' enclosure.
Apparently the ticket counts as a day member badge and 'yes' I can watch the races and enter the members' enclosure during the day on the evening ticket!
Just for the record.
I am not clear on my scheduling at the moment. I have a luncheon at Apothecary's Hall on the Wednesday so will drive to Newmarket on Thursday which means I shall stay over for the Thursday night so as to pace myself, having luncheon at my hotel aftr checking-in. Having thus prepared myself I shal descend upon the race course early pm for the rest of the day.
Peter

Hi Steve. Thanks for that post. Pity i didn't read it earlier that doesn't seem to make it too late a night unless one stays over for the fireworks of course and the rest of the concert which I suppose I will and there is always dinner anyway! Peter

Hello Steve and Peter! I'm not going to the Newmarket concert on Thursday 13th July, but I'm looking forward to reading the reports. However, I can't resist this:- 7 days to go! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI'm not a betting man, but here's a tip. Hayley will be a winner! Bye for now, Richard

Peter When you say the rest of the concert, are you expecting something else other than Hayley? This is not an evening event like some of the others at Newmarket, from what the young lady said I think its Hayley then Home! and it will be too light at 6.30PM for fireworks! This is what is advertised: "Young classical star Hayley Westenra will sing at the racecourse with the National Symphony Orchestra on Thursday, July 13" Steve H

Hi Steve! Its printed on my ticket!
I would scan it but the info is small and not sharp edged I think the resolution to hold detail worth holding wll make it too large a file. I'll have a try perhaps after this send but I'm looking at it and the key line is:CONCERT 9PM
Actually i've just thought, we're dealing with a racecourse, I don't think I'd better scan the ticke! Peter

Hi Peter,
I have 'Day Member' passes, which allow entrance to the members enclosure for the day, this is where the concert is to be held. Unfortunately they do not have any times on them.
Best Wishes
Steve H

Hello Peter and Steve! I've just looked at Newmarket's web site again, and I think there may have been some confusion between the Classic FM Race Day, which features afternoon racing with Hayley singing after the last race, and the Newmarket Nights, which feature evening racing followed by a concert. It looks as though Ticketmaster may be unaware of the difference. I hope this helps! Richard

Hi Richard :)and Peter , Yes it does look as though they have their knickers in a twist! If the racing finishes at 5.00PM what would we do until 9.00PM? The racing on the Evening functions finishes at 8.40PM, that makes more sense with fireworks after the concert. Its looking like an early finish then, perhaps all the HWI crowd can have a drink afterwords! Best Wishes Steve.

Hi everyone, I have just phoned the Newmarket Box Office and they assure me the concert is due to start at about 5pm (lasting until about 6 or 6.30). This is more or less the same as they told Dave last week and sounds pretty reliable. I mentioned that someone (Peter) has a ticket which states 9pm and they suggested it may be a misprint! They emphasized that this is part of the "July Festival" and NOT the "Newmarket Nights" (which usually starts at around 9pm), which is basically what Richard was saying. Repeat: 5pm startPeter, please check the ticket thoroughly and query with the ticket agency if necessary. Roger

Roger Thanks for your efforts everyone who has contributed, it seems that not only do you NOT trust Ticketmaster's delivery methods, SIMPLY don't trust ticketmaster.! i have confirmed at the box office the ticket is valid despite it saying Newmarket Nights on the same day and giving a 9:00pm performance! As it happens I have relatives in that area so either that evening or shilly-shallying back the next day I won't waste the hotel booking, I still need to pace myself. I'll just make sure I make more of the front end. Peter

Simply me playing with language again. If you can say something simple send it 'Western Union', if you want to be personal and show effort, wax lyrically! Peter
