Hi Lothar, I haven't seen a forecast for Saturday yet. The best I can do is Friday when the forecast for Manchester is for light rain and a maximum temperture of 21C. A light southwesterly wind (7mph) and sunset at 19.42 (BST). I think you can leave your diving suit in Berlin but an umbrella might be advisable. I'll check it again in a couple of days in the hope for better weather on Saturday. See you there whatever the weather! Roger

Hi Roger,
Thanks for finding that info.
I did'nt know about any line up before hand, seems like this is going to be one long concert, especially with the live link to Royal Albert Hall at the end.
I guess Hayley will be on from 7.30pm onwards.
What time is everyone expecting to turn up at??

Hi Emmett,
I am not even due to arrive in Manchester until 4pm. Then I have to find the hotel! However, that is only across the road from the entrance to Heaton Park so I hope to be through the gates very soon after they open at 5. See ya there!

Hi Roger,
Looks like I'm in the same boat as you, I have to find my hotel too.
Lucky you to get one across the road, the best I could get was a Premier Inn but about 1-2 miles North of Heaton Park.
I hope, not too many of the crowd turn up bang on 5, as I hope to be able to get up near the front. From the picture I've seen on the BBC Proms website its looks like its seated.
Look forward to seeing you on Saturday,
Emmett

Hi, what's about weather conditions for Saturday We need umbrellas or diving suits? Regards, Lothar We are getting weather forecast for Manchester on Saturday. Obviously, as it is still three days away, it can change quite a lot - but this is Manchester. The run down, including today, is as follows: Wednesday - fine with sunny periods. Thursday - showers and sunny periods. Friday - showers or light rain. Saturday - more persistent showers or rain. This will be a great pity because each open air event I have been to with Hayley has turned out to be fine - sometimes a little cool, but fine. I think that the order of the day is going to be something at least showerproof, preferrably waterproof. Also, perhaps a hat which is also waterproof. Personally, the most effective thing to keep the rain off that I can think of is a refuse sack. Not much of a fashion statement but, it's waterproof. Simply cut a hole out of the bottom to get your head through and put it on like you would a cape, then put your hat on. Refuse sacks are at least loose fitting so, if you have any cameras etc., they will be safe under it. I shall certainly be bringing one with me, just in case. And when you think of the potential aroma from 10,000 wet bodies, surely it is preferable. Umbrellas are NOT advised in crowds because they are extremely obstructive and dangerous. Keith.

Looking at the latest model data, Friday is now looking wetter than Saturday for Manchester. Less than 1 mm of rain is currently forecast for Saturday although it could well be light rain from time to time all day. It may start to clear by evening. So, all is not lost. Quite cool for late Summer though. Saturday looks wetter in the South and London than in Manchester but of course, this is inevitable. The England cricket team must have a guarantee of reclaiming The Ashes and what better guarantee than a wet English weekend? I'm sure Hayley won't mind, if it rains a bit, in the circumstances!!!

Sadly, I will not now be attending the Manchester prom on Saturday (there's too much happening at home!). I shall, howevver, attempt to record anything and everything broadcast on TV - including the BBC (on Sky Digital) interactive services that I hope will broadcast the entire Manchester concert Whatever is on, I'll try to get it... but I cannot receive BBC Radio Manchester who will *definitely* broadcast it all. I hope someone remembers to ask Hayley or Steve if there will be a UK single and when it will be released...
