I have just heard from two friends in America who have supplied the programme details for this event: With thanks to Laurel and Gina, I reproduce them here:
Music Of The Night Mario Frangoulis - Hayley Westenra - Deborah Meyers October 5th and 6th at the Herod Atticus
First part 1. Mia Poli Magiki (Hatzidakis) 2. Music Of The Night (Andrew Lloyd Webber) 3. The Light In The Piazza (Adam Cuettler) 4. Maria (L. Bernstein) 5. Being Alive (S. Sonheim) 6. We Kiss In A Shadow (Rodgers & Hammerstein) 7. The Impossible Dream 8. One Day More (Claude Michel Schoenberg) 9. Empty Chairs (Claude Michel Schoenberg) 10. Forza Del Destino (G.Verdi) 11. Va Pensiero (G. Verdi) 12. Ch'Ella Mi Creda (Puccini) 13. A Solita Storia (Cilea) 14. Questa O Quella (G. Verdi) 15. Bella Figlia Dell'Amore (G. Verdi) 16. Gualder Malde...Caro Nome (G. Verdi) 17. Direction RICHARD JAY-ALEXANDER
Performers: MARIO FRAGOULIS, HAYLEY WESTERNA, DEBORAH MEYERS The New Opera of Moscow Symphony Orchestra & Chorus.
I am guessing that the two songs listed as "Untitled" may simply mean "to be decided".
'Hine e Hine' was performed by Hayley and Mario as a duet during the Winter Tour in 2004. For me, that was the best version I have ever heard of that song. I wonder which of the above will be sung by Hayley either solo or as a duet. Any guesses?
How are your plans going for the trip, Lothar?
Roger

Is this concert going to be taped/televised? Because I love the song selection. Hi Someone, My sources are asking the same question and, like you, are expressing the hope that it will be. They are both members of Mario's Yahoo discussion group so, if I hear anything further from them, I will post it here. Roger

I wondor what Hayley is going to sing. Hi Stephanie, sorry I have taken so long to answer but I only found out last week! According to Steve, Hayley will only be performing two songs. They are 'Ave Maria' (which is presumably the Cacchini version, and 'Hine e Hine'. Apparently there will not be any duets. But, as with all things, plans do get changed! I'm sure we shall hear from Lothar soon after the concerts. Have a good time, Lothar! Roger

Hi folks,
Our dear friend, Lothar, who is currently in Greece, has emailed me and asked me to post the following message on his behalf as he can't connect from where he is.
So, here it is, Keith.
Message begins: Hi all,
today was the first concert in Athens of Mario Frangkailos in an open air theater very close to Akropolis..
Hayley was announced as guest, but she was absent.
I dont know what is the reason why.
First: It could be she has some problems with her voice again. Somebody told me that, because she was not at the reharsal yesterday.
Second: Today was a strike of pilots in france to day, so somebody told me. So maybe she was very late arrived in Atens and not just in time to performe at the concert.
So I bought a ticket for tomorrow additional. Tomorrow I will wait for Hayley again and hope she will be at the concert.
We will see what is happen tomorrow.
I will give you some more information tomorrow or when I will be back at home.
Kind regards to all Hayley fans - and best wishes to Hayley that she is o.k. and can perform tomorrow night.
cu Lothar

Hi folks, a minute ago I called Lothar in Athens and he told me that Hayley did not show up tonight either. He could talk to a couple of people there including members of the orchestra (good, Lothar can speak Russian) but he received differing information. As it seems, however, Hayley canceled on very short notice. Her voice is probably not well yet. Please, take good care of yourself, Hayley! We are all thinking of you! Lothar will post a more extensive report of the festival as soon as he is back. Have a safe trip back, buddy! Regards, Holger

Hi folks,
I couldn't post this earlier, because I have been out all evening.
Hayley has the flu. And quite a good dose of it too from what I can make out, so she never left London.
I do know that frantic efforts were made to contact everyone connected with the show, including Mario himself. How successful they were, I don't know.
Keith.

Oh crikey! I hope Hayley recovers soon and my thoughts are with her. Lothar too, having made the long trip to Athens. How disappointing for you, Lothar. - but I hope Mario sung as well as I know he can. Am I right in thinking this is the first time Hayley has ever had to cancel a concert appearance? I hope it isn't because she has been overdoing things... she has had several colds this year and now, the flu. Get well soon, Hayley! Dave
