Hi Belinda,
It's great to hear Hayley's concert when well
Hayley never fails to go that extra yard in giving her attention. To have impressed your Mum with her comments will be something you will treasure for all time.
Best wishes,
Denis

Hello Belinda! I'm pleased you had a great time with Hayley again, and I love the comment she made to your mum. What a smashing young lady Hayley is! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifNow I can't wait to read your review, but first there is a very good press review of Hayley's opening concert in Dunedin on her official site, so I'm going to post a link on the Reviews board of this forum. Best Wishes and a little envy, Richard

I went to the concert last night. It was brilliant. I think I bumped into Belinda while waiting for Hayley to sign my poster. I loved the songs Hayley sang but the biggest surprise for me was how great Fiona was on the violin. The Turkish Fantasie and Memories of Martin and Mary songs she did were some of my favourites. I ended up buying her CD and DVD. So everyone see Hayley if you can You will not be disappointed.

Hi Ross and welcome to the forum. How wonderful that your first post here was made so soon after seeing Hayley. I would love to have been there but it would have been a long journey - I'm in England! Fiona is brilliant. I have seen her perform those two pieces several times and 'Memories of Martin and Mary' is my favourite of all she does. During a Hayley tour last year, Fiona danced about the stage a bit on the first night. Throughout the tour, I encouraged her to dance more and more while she played. She did and by the last night, she had made many UK fans. I look forward to reading your future posts and hope you enjoy your time here among friends. All the best, Roger

Hi Everyone, Just on the net quickly home for an hour then out to my second job, HI Ross , yes i was in the line beside you, glad you took my advise and joined the forum, The Christchurch Press as usual, Has some nasty remarks again or should i say the reviewer does. The Letters to the editor column will get a few letters re the review. and mine will be called One Mans Opinion. what are they trying to do make Hayley decided to forget about singing in Christchurch, Hayley take the review with a grain of salt. I think the guys a bit jealous, myself. Will have to do a bit of background re search. But must go work to be done. Will post the Press review when i get home.

Hi Belinda! And hi Ross, welcome to the forum! It looks like we need more people from NZ like you to join, people who don't seem intent on denigrating Hayley at every opportunity like that Christchurch newspaper mentioned by Belinda. It's this review here from "The Press", I assume - which I have linked to but I refuse to quote from as The Christchurch Press seem to have an on going campaign against Hayley. Read on. Does anyone remember Timothy Jones' negative review of Hayley's 2004 Pure Tour concert, also at Christchurch Town Hall? Well there was quite a fuss about that one - scanned here at HWI (complete with protests from their readers). "The Press" in Christchurch does seems to be out on a limb (again) regarding its Hayley reviews - and I have a strong suspicion that reviewers are editorially selected for and are encouraged to write negative reviews about Hayley - their home town girl - in order to stir up public feelings and sell more newspapers. The tone of "The Press" reviews of Hayley concerts seem to contrast strongly with most other NZ reviews of her, and certainly they contrast with most overseas reviews - from what I've seen. Compare their tone with that of the Dunedin review mentioned in another thread here. Were the two NZ reviewers watching the same singer? It would appear not. This apparent behaviour of "The Press" in Christchurch is just how the British Tabloid press behaves and I thought that - the denigration of successful British personalities at every opportunity - was a uniquely British problem. It would appear that in Christchurch, "The Press" has learned a thing or two about selling newspapers from the UK gutter press. I do not have a problem with negative reviews of Hayley concerts as such; everyone is entitled to air an opinion. But when there seems to be a pattern developing - an indication of possible ulterior motives as here - I will stand up and shout about it from the rooftops. I look forward to reading what you, Belinda, wrote in your letter of protest! Dave

Hello Ross and welcome to the forum! We certainly do need more people like you to write honest reviews of Hayley's concerts. I've seen and met her ten times so far, and I could never agree with the comments made by that reviewer in "The Press". I'm not going to write his name! I'm glad you enjoyed Hayley's concert, and I also agree with your comments about violinist Fiona Pears, who I met a few times last year at Hayley's concerts here in the UK. Ian Tilley is a great pianist too! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI look forward to reading your future posts. Best Wishes from London, Richard

The Cover of the Programme for Hayley's Concert was the same as the British one, Credits were slightly different and the next page .Then there were the same beautiful pictures taken by Hayley's talented mum, The musicians page has Ian and Fiona on one page and the guitarist Simon Lumsby and cello player Sarah Matthews on another then there were pages on Ghana. The only thing missing was what songs Hayley was singing, I guess they are not encluded incase of change after printing.Maybe a leaflet insert would be good as the names of some songs were not mentioned , before or after they were sung .I heard that mentioned a few times people had been expecting the songlist to be in it in . Hayley kindly Included Hayley Westenra International in th Credit page.In the Bit ,Many thanks for your help and support. And there was another surprise for me in there ,see if you can spot it. OMG

Belinda,
That's AWESOME...
You are obviously one of Hayley's nearest and dearest. Your moral support is certainly appreciated!
That's lovely that HWI was included in the credits too!
Have you already told us what Hayley was dressed like for the Concert?
Andrew X
