Hello again Everybody,
It’s really great to login here again to see so many familiar faces and some new faces too.
It’s really incredible isn’t it - although the years fly by so quickly and the winds and tides continually change... our love of Hayley and her music remains constant! I was listening to her Christmas CD over the recent festive period with great fondness.
I have so many wonderful memories of meeting with Hayley and her fans after concerts... I will never forget seeing Hayley perform live for the first time in my home city of Edinburgh, on Monday 15th November, 2004 during her “Winter Pure Tour”. Hayley closed her setlist during that Tour with a heart warming duet rendition of “Hine e Hine” with Mario Frangoulis, who was her guest musician at the time. I was so impressed by Hayley’s live performance that I had to see her again for her Manchester concert a week later on 22nd November (the final official concert of that Tour) at The Bridgewater Hall. I remember meeting TV actor/ presenter/ singer, Bradley Walsh as he left the Bridgewater Hall backstage door in his duffle coat! Bradley must have been on Hayley’s guest list that night. We were all standing waiting to meet Hayley for her “meet and greet” after the concert - not at all worried about standing outside in the cold! Hayley didn’t leave until she had spent time to greet and chat with everybody which was really lovely. I was always charmed by Hayley’s patience.
I saw Hayley again in 2005 at the “ClassicaLive” workshop event at the London Olympia where she performed a master class. I also saw her at The Lowry in Manchester that year and then in 2006 as she supported “Il Divo” on Tour. Then there was the Cadogen Hall Concert the same year, where Hayley’s guests, “All Angels” performed live for the first time and Hayley was supported on stage by “Raven”. I shared a train back with Roger Mansbridge that night and we ended up sitting up all night in Gatwick Airport terminal talking about the concert after being suitably, “Westenra Wowed”!!! That year I also travelled to Cardiff for an exclusive “Radio Wales” Concert but it was cancelled so I spent the evening in my hotel room feeling miserable, eating a very bad Chinese takeaway, as I watched “Crimewatch” on TV! I saw Hayley in Newcastle for the “Christmas Presence” Concert on 14th December 2006 with Northern Sinfonia & the Central Newcastle High School Choir the same year though. What a delight!
I saw Hayley in 2007 in Langholm, then Aberdeen in 2008 and Glasgow in 2009. Sadly I haven’t attended another Hayley concert since, but I’d really like to change that! Let’s hope she doesn’t keep us waiting too long, huh?
Memories just grow sweeter as the years pass, don’t they? No-one can ever take them away from us either! Meeting other Hayley fans has always been one of the highlights of attending concerts.
I hope you are all well? Now it’s your turn to share some memories...
