Hi Libby,
Of course I remember you!
It's really great to hear from you... Thanks so much for your reply.
Yes - We're all very intrigued about Hayley's new Album. Apparently Hayley has recorded her vocals with her musical director providing accompaniment on the piano.
Right now I am reflecting on her rendition of "Sonny". Hayley's vocals sounded so clear and defined and the piano lines enhanced her voice by adding a deeper tonal range and an extra element of ambience too.
When Hayley performs "Sonny" live that piece has huge emotional impact, doesn't it? Perhaps this is due to the simplicity of her vocals only being accompanied by the piano.
The phrase, "less is more" springs to mind and certainly applies to a dramatic effect, don't you think?
I wonder if Hayley has concentrated on classical/ folk music roots for all of her new pieces? Perhaps she has also decided to dabble with a new style too - such as jazz!
Hayley has proved to us before that she likes to experiment with different genres of music. I really love the way she incorporated an element of Gospel music on: "Treasure" with: "Whispering Hope". Remember also the superb live spiritual medley she performed of: "Down to the River"/ "Amazing Grace" - as featured in her 2004 recording for her: "Live from New Zealand" DVD.
As we all know Hayley loves to perform pop tunes too, like her version of Kate Bush's: "Wuthering Heights". I'll never forget her rendition of Whitney Houston's "Who Would Imagine a King?" which she performed in Newcastle on 14th December, 2006 at the: "Christmas Presence" concert. Absolutely beautiful.
I do love the anticipation of a new Album though...
Incidentally, I am not going off topic at all here because I am still saying "Hi!"... So there!
Andrew
