Not anymore Thanks to itunes, I bought just the song! Really nice track!, lovely harmonies and everything. I'm surprised not many here is excited about the sample being available? It's a Hayley recording in a looong time, I was expecting pages of comments on this thread. Oh well.

Yes Simba I agree. Wonderful controlled vocals. Hayley is still improving I'm sure. The best has just got better (as she has many times in the past of course). Can't wait to hear her new stuff.

Sorry, but I like "happy" Christmas songs! This is rather dreary despite Hayley trying to rescue it. Martin

If you ask me, she's back to her nasalliness; the song has that old-fashioned style to it that tends to make her sing nasally (ever since the BoB songs, which I disliked). I don't care for Placido's voice very much.
I'm really hoping Hayley's "real" album doesn' sound nasally. So, yes, I'm very glad she has a new song on a popular opera singer's album. However, from what I've heard, I'm not itching to download it.

Ofcourse there are portions of this song that have a nasal tone, especially when she sings 'you' wherever, but nevertheless has to be the least nasal/flat song in a long time, relatively speaking...I don't expect her album to be very different in terms of vocals, which is absolutely fine....we need to go listen to some of her previous recordings to see how different it is, like that Amazing Grace that came with Paradiso, When at night, and many more. And Martin, I thought the song was quite joyful, if you're saying this based on the sample, then I agree it doesn't reveal the chorus much....sure Placido is just okay, way past his prime, but Hayley's portions sounded great. Since this is the only new song in the album, I think Placido might do it live, ofc with Hayley hopefully....but I don't even know if he's doing concerts these days XD no clue...

Well, I agree, I was never a great fan of Placido although I bought the Three Tenors album. I don't think I'll buy the album either, although there are albums I've bought for just one track featuring Hayley. Gypsy Queens was the last one, although I quite like the rest of it too.

Well I won't be buying the album but I did download Hayley's duet - and as it's just the one track I splashed out £2.58 to get it from 7Digital in lossless 24 bit (44.1 kHz) FLAC*, partly as a test of my new computer-USB-DAC-HiFi connection! I enjoyed Hayley's part more than Domingo's, yes he's a bit off the pace these days I think. And the mix was a bit too much biased towards his voice when they sang together (probably a very long distance apart !) so it wasn't always easy to hear Hayley clearly. But yeah, for this type of song (I knew what I'd be getting ) it's good I think. Hopefully Hayley's next musical recording will have a bit more bite to it, though! Cheers, Dave * PS @ Simba, Comet, MartinD (I think) and other HiFi fans - Several Hayley albums including Pure are now available in 16 bit FLAC, which with modern PCs USB and good DACs, should be worth a try, might sound even better than the originals given the quality of old CD players. Not 24 bit though, too old I guess.

Simba, don't "speak" to me as if I've never listened to a Hayley album before. No, it's not her most nasally song ever, yet it's still more nasally than I prefer to hear. The point is, it's good, but not amazing. Sorry we don't agree, but that's the way it is. Moving on...

FLAC AUDIO Free Lossless Audio Codec, great that it is not owned by one of the corporate monsters. FLAC for Audio, more information and links here

The point is, it's good, but not amazing. Sorry we don't agree, but that's the way it is. Moving on... Well I'm sorry, but it did seem you had forgotten what Hayley sounded like in her recordings the last couple of years if you had to call this nasal. I more than anyone else have been very critical about Hayley's vocals, and there was a point when I brought up the whole nasal/flat technique that she's been using....you didn't agree with me then. It's all relative, I don't have a problem with us disagreeing nor with you not liking this song a lot, that's up to you. But if you found this nasal, It'd make sense that you despised some of her last recordings and performances. Though clearly, that's again not the case. And Dave, Yes! Flac is amazing, I think I have one of her albums in flac, really amazing to hear Hayley in lossless format haha. But I do feel the quality of the recording/mix itself falls behind lets say some of the more mainstream artists (which is totally understandable), because Flac audio for those songs are out of the world! I own a Yamaha keyboard, some S710, and in one of Hayley's bonus tracks or something, (Wiegenlied?), the prelude to the song was the same as the recorded prelude in my Keyboard! Sad that they couldn't have a real piano piece.....that's how cheap some of Hayley's recordings are. It's sad that they don't invest a lot on the quality of her recordings, I don't know how it works, but is the label incharge of the accompaniments of songs? if so, She really has to switch labels....

Martin D Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the Three Tenors Pavarotti, Bocelli, & Carreras?
