I am not surprised. I rate Katie as the best young singer I have heard since Hayley.

Finally got to hear Katie at the Oakham Festival this evening, and meet her afterwards. She actually recognised me and walked up to say hello, even though we had never met before. She really is a very fine singer, and it is hard to believe she is only 15 years old. Here is part of her performance. And look, no microphone...

Well, this is what I missed while I was in Peterborough Cathedral listening to Classical Reflection. Katie's concert in Oakham was on at the same time. Dark Waltz is not an easy song to sing, I heard so many singers mess it up. Young Katie nailed it. Fabulous. Blown away! In my book, if anyone is "the new Hayley" it is Katie. Well I usually avoid posting in 'other artists' threads, Hayley is enough for me and few others ever come close. Though I do dip in from time to time and I have to say, I can see in Katie 's singing a noticeable improvement since last year. That's an impressive performance of Dark Waltz, this girl could go far.
It won't be easy though as the big Classical Crossover boom ended a few years ago, things are tougher these days I think. I hope she does well, she definitely has the voice for it.
