The Salvation Army ad campaign using Hayley's Quanta Qualia had me interested in the song and the composer, Patrick Hawes. I thought I'd share what it says about the song on his website: patrickhawes.com/musicOn Wikipedia, it says his brother Andrew Thomas, is a poet, and according to the CD jacket, he is the writer of the lyrics of Quanta Qualia. The song is on his debut album, Blue in Blue, which, according to his website, made CD of the week on Classic FM in 2004, and it was nominated for a Classical Brit award. It was also voted by Classic FM listeners as the fastest ever and highest new entry into the station’s Hall of Fame. I'm guessing this is how Hayley discovered the song herself, since she did attend the CB awards in 2004. She may have bought the album, or perhaps she heard it on Classic FM radio. Quanta Qualia was the first song I listened to on the plane on the way to Madison, flying above the clouds. Very fitting, because it's such a peaceful, ethereal song. Sarah Brightman's Glosoli was also very nice to hear above the clouds.

That's a better translation than what's on Hayley Online. I can't edit the lyrics there, anymore, though.

Hello Libby! Here are the lyrics of 'Quanta Qualia' with the translation from Latin to English: This is the tweet from Patrick Hawes with the Salvation Army NZ's video: Richard That's really cool! I love reading the translations to songs in foreign languages. I feel that after I do, it gives me a whole new facet of the song to enjoy and understand when listening to it. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifP.S.- Wow! It's been a while since I posted. I've been more of a lurker recently, checking every day but not saying much. But I'm still here.

This is far and away my favourite track on Odyssey. The way Hayley uses her voice is just stunning.

Speaking of an ad, Hayley's Benedictus was used for a Lexus GS450H CM in Japan nearly a decade ago, I remembered. It was very very popular. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQXbl-Kqm6c

That's a great find Richard, very interesting! And you forgot to mention that the composer includes two clips from Hayley's recording on Odyssey, including the top note of her high D. It's enough to make your eyes water! Cheers, Dave

Yes, it is definitely there. I won't post the link since it is the commercial version.

I was looking at all of the credits from Hayley's albums a while back, and I believe Patrick Hawes may have been involved with her recording somehow. I forgot exactly what it said, though. I think she thanked him in the credits. It wasn't merely that his name was shown as the composer of the music.
