Strange versions of songs are sometimes a consequence of competing on a reality music show. Often times, what the singer is able/allowed to do on the show aren't necessarily the best song to represent the singers, but whatever they do once they record an album is usually much more desirable.

Been quiet on this thread lately so here's a performance from Warwick Castle which shows the Irish lass is equally at home with show tunes as well as opera. Someone else to look out for when she tours my area and releases an album ! There are a lot of good new singers around at the moment. (Just as well because as Libby pointed out in the Classical Reflection thread, there isn't much Hayley news !).

I think Boy George will be a welcome addition. Culture Club are winding up a USA tour...last Saturday they performed at a music festival in Bethlehem (eastern Pennsylvania).

Hi Comet ! I'm sure you'll be interested to hear Lucy will be performing in "Proms in the Park" at Titanic Slipways in Belfast this Saturday. I hope you can get to see it from where you are. Here in the UK we'll have to press the red button from 7.15pm to watch a selection of highlights from all 4 concerts in Belfast, London, Glasgow and Swansea. The problem with 4 concerts happening at once is you're bound to miss something ! Here's more details: www.bbc.co.uk/events/e82v2mOther highlights are Russell Watson and The Jacksons at Hyde Park if anyone is in London and fancies going along or hasn't got a ticket for the main event at The Royal Albert Hall !

Thanks Jeff,
I'll have a look and see is it on any of our available stations,
no doubt it will probably be available on YouTube after a few days.

Lucy sang "O mio babbino caro" and "I could have danced all night" available on iplayer on the link I posted on 9th Sept. She's on after about 9 minutes from the start and has a chat afterwards. The whole show is worth watching and I thought of all the proms this one was the best. It was particularly appropriate that they played the "Titanic Suite" in memory of James Horner who died this year. Where better to play music from "Titanic" than the very place where she was launched ?

Thanks again Jeff,
I.AM really pleased at the progress Lucy is making in the music field.
I hate to use the term music business now, because talented singers are just "current popular product" for the music business to consume and discard as they please.
Maybe ideas like Pledge music and smaller independent record labels are the way forward for singers who are determined enough to stick at their chosen career.
I wonder if a certain other popular singer we often discuss on this forum is about to release an album on an Independent label instead of Decca / Universal. It's not unusual for us on this forum to make such suggestions, without any proof one way or another.

Could well be, Comet. I don't even know if she still has a contract with Decca given that "Hushabye" was well, not a roaring success. (It's being remaindered in my local HMV shop this week!).

I would suggest that since her official website is run by Decca, and is still there, that she is still with them. They got rid of KJ's site pretty quickly I seem to remember when she left Decca. Admittedly, there is nothing new on Hayley's website, although you can still sign up for the newsletter.

This is probably the wrong place to post this but that certain singer might have different management as well. www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/brian-lane-joins-swedens-biggest-booking-agency-international-role/Sorry I lost control of the quoting....
