Yes, Jeff, but remember Tom sang "The Green Green Grass of Home", another cheesy and depressing song of the same ilk as the ones you mention. The twins were never going to win with that song, but the gave it a go, credit to them.

Again, at the risk of praising SC, American Idol has been in decline ever since his departure... actually, it wasn't too bad the first couple years, except for the major judge fiasco. But the worst year was last year, after the firing of Nigel Lythgoe. He wasn't the greatest, but he's obviously better than Per Blankens! Yes, that's a real name, and I was quite unimpressed with him last year. And I don't even know what he looks like!
Yes, as much as most of you dislike SC, the best AI years were when he was there. He may not be the sweetest person, or have anyone's interests in mind but his own, he still seemed able to pull off a pretty decent singing show. After all, even though it's declining, it's still on, after 14 seasons! What other talent show can claim that?

They sung well but never had a chance. Here is their performance, up against Emmanuel Nwamadi, singing The Living Years, may not be viewable outside the UK though so I hope it will pop up on Youtube. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02ldplqThe consensus from viewers on forums that I've seen is that the joint performance (all three of them) was the best of the show and that's probably why they were the final act. Unfortunately, all the judges' 'steals' had been used up previously so whoever lost, was out. And in such a contest, up against a male performer strong in voice and physique, in that type of song/genre, they were on a hiding to nothing. I have seen many comments on the Net wishing they too could have progressed, even while acknowledging that Emmanuel gave the better performance (on that song). Because that song was chosen, with those competitors, as the final act, it's fairly obvious that the producers wanted them out, for whatever reason. Dave I wonder why the producers would want them out or have I missed something ? Have they been speaking to "the other side?" i.e. Simon Cowell ?!

Jeff, Per Blankens, the newer AI producer, is far worse than SC ever was. I should know, I watched AI for 9 seasons ( ), 5 of which included Simon Cowell. And believe me when I say the show was way better when he was on. As I said above, he may be arrogant and think of an artist mainly as a way to make him money, he at least knew how to make a good singing show. I never noticed as much bias when he was on as I did last season when Per Blankens came (he's from Sweden). And Jennifer Lopez.

Yes, I thought I recognised the photos. Lovely city, probably my favourite English city, and only 30 miles from their home town.

Actually, today isn't Mothers' Day, it is Mothering Sunday. They are two different things. Mothers' Day is actually in May. But that being said, a lot of UK people celebrate Mothering Sunday as if it were Mother' Day.
The difference. Mothering Sunday is a Christian church festival. Mothers Day is entirely secular.
Anyway, a happy Mothering Sunday to all mothers (and everyone else for that matter).

If you click on the date and time at the bottom of this tweet you'll be able to see the comments. There's a strong consensus that Classical Reflection should still be in the competition, and I agree. Richard
