However, Martin, I'm not sure I would say what you said about Hayley. In Nessun Dorma, or most opera, no, I don't think she could wipe the floor with Lucy. But I don't think she should ever try, anyway. I think she's at the point where she should move past the operatic arias, for the most part. Nessun Dorma is too overdone anyway. I wasn't suggesting that Nessun Dorma would be a good song for Hayley. Only that they have a wonderful talent in Hayley that they should make more of. I'm sure Simon Cowell will do a good job promoting Lucy, as he did with Susan Boyle who has in my opinion considerably less talent. Martin D

Susan Boyle is less talented in opera, yes. But you can't really compare people who sing different genres though. Because her voice would probably not hold up as well in opera does not make her less talented. It just makes her less-skilled at opera. She sings show tunes, pop, and maybe a tiny bit of crossover? She has a nice voice, and because of her story on BGT, she's very marketable. Yes, that's what Simon likes because he likes to sell CDs. But he knows how to make it. Obviously, and understandably, opera is not the most sought after musical genre. I myself would probably never be seen at an opera house. I can take certain singers singing operatic arias, but other than that, I would not consider myself an opera fan at all. I can't really say I'm a fan of any specific genre, because I usually enjoy singers for the singers themselves, and sometimes their genres are hard to define. That's true of Hayley, Josh Groban, and other of my favorites.

Yes Richard. There's no doubt in my mind which of the finalists will have the longest career. youtu.be/8uXtlug4uGw?t=4sSo the full result was: 1. Collabro 9/4 2. Lucy Kay 7/1 3. B.A.M. 5/4FAV I've been slow catching up with this thread as I haven't watched any of this year's BGT, until now! Having played the video of Lucy I'm afraid that I wasn't too impressed, apart from her having a powerful voice. Could be a female Paul Potts though, I suppose. Cheers, Dave

I got Collabro's album this week it's really good I think. Apart from one song, called Let it Go from the film Frozen, nothing to do with their voices or arrangement really, just I think the lyrics should have been changed, sounds a little odd to me having five guys singing 'be the good girl you always had to be' or something like that! I'd definitely recommend the album it's got some songs that aren't recorded that often as well as those that are very popular, there's a nice mix. I'm looking forward to Lucy's album too, I wasn't sure about her at first but she's grown on me haha best wishes Sing

Hi all As breakout BGT finalist Lucy Kay will have a CD for a target release date of 29 September, it has been requested that a separate thread be started. Members may still discuss Lucy's appearance on BGT in this general thread, but any discussion about her career after the show final shall take place on that separate thread for Lucy HERE Have a great day
