Merely musing, but point taken, Dave, Peter s. I wasn't making a point Peter, I was making a joke. It just amused me to see Postscript adding his own postscript! Cheers, Dave Hi Dave. Thanks for the explanation. I thought you were referring to the fact that I had stuck my oar in with Hayley mentioning one pub in Richmond 'The White Cross' when I had visited the one round the corner 'The Slug and Lettuce'. I thought you felt I was waxing too self-indulgently. My reason for mentioning this was not that I used to visit the area frequently (and therefore might (except she wouldn't have been there then) have bumped into Hayley socially) but that I thought our overseas visitors would be interested in an unusual pub name. In fact my first visit to Richmond was my first introduction to the 'Slug' name since when I have discovered around 200 pubs so named (not by personal visiting! ). I cannot remember the origin. Variously it is related to 'a slug of ale' in terms of gulping it down, slothful individuals who might inhabit the place or in one context I believe it has a Scandinavian origin but meaning what I cannot now recall. However, I digress, of course--my hallmark of consistency! :2fun: Originally I wrote 'Addendum', then realised that truly speaking it was an 'after having written' so changed it to Postscript. Yours aye in fun and hilarity By the by can I just say to you: RPO RLPO PM? Any thoughts, observations, news? Peter S.

By the by can I just say to you: RPO RLPO PM? Any thoughts, observations, news? Peter S. Hi Peter, Oops, I forgot (again!) but I did look into it and I asked Roger too if he knew any more about it but alas he does not. As this was initially a private conversation, I should mention that Peter has information that may indicate that it was the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (RLPO) which backed Hayley on some or all of Pure, not the The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) as credited on both UK editions of Pure, over a year apart - and all others as far as i know. I would be surprised if Decca were that much in error but you never know. One thing that comes to mind is this: Hayley's book mentions that the original Pure - which was never released - was recorded in Dublin. Remembering where the RLPO is based - not too far across the Irish Sea from Dublin - perhaps they had some involvement in the unreleased version, even though we know most of the backings were electronic? Or the credits on the final version of Pure could be entirely or partially wrong, as your contact seems to have intimated. Sorry Peter but that's the best I can do for the moment. Feel free to start a thread in the Pure Albums board about the unreleased Pure, version 1, if you wish. I don't think there is such a thread to date and it might turn out to be very interesting indeed. If you do, you might want to quote this post in it, for continuity. Cheers, Dave

The scariest thing is pretty funny (although I feel bad for anyone in that situation). In fact all of it is pretty funny. It shows that even Hayley is not unaquainted with mr. Murphy Since she has a rather witty/deft mind though I wonder what the two lines she came up with were. Peter Upon further review Peter, a better candidate is the Good Morning appearance singing Abide with Me. She served up scrambled lyrics for breakfast - "the joys grow dim the comforts flock away" and "change and decay and earths vain pleasures flee" would constitute two rather creative lines. I do have to give her credit for courage under fire though because her expression didnt change at all. If there wasnt the merest hint of hesitation I might not have even noticed. Jon - off topic again

Jon - off topic again The comforts flock away! I don't know what to say... thats still lovely! It could be that what we got was a deeper look as to how Hayley interprets those lyrics i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI'm going to have to start using that improvization myself - when things aren't going my way I'll just say that they are flocking away :2fun: Thanks for the chuckle... best, Peter (the other one i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif)

Jon - off topic again [/quote] Hi Jon Reading your post - I just had to listen to the clip again and I have to say well spotted!! I watched very closely and followed her with the lyrics booklet from the Japanese release of Treasure. Hayley's hesitation can't have been more than a milisecond and I'm sure I could see a "What on earth is the next line" expression on her face but she carried it off beautifully. Up until now, I always thought that it was because she was tired but in reality she may have been really worried about the performance. Wonder if she ever owned up to the presenters or just left them in happy ignorance? If she owned up, I'm sure they would have laughed about it. Hayley, you are a true professional! Best wishes Grant
