Hey Dave, Richard,
Did you get my PM with regards to the Beijing concert ticket sales? I have a hard time with proboard this morning (from where I am lol). Keep getting "unable to find forum" after I try to post something.

Oh an a note of caution when reading computer translated articles from China regrading Hayley, you might see some odd and confusing references to Sarah Brightman. No I don't think Sarah is in Hayley's concert and Sarah is having her own China concert in June. Hayley is often being marketed as the "New / Young Sarah Brightman" in China. So there are a lot of comparison between them in their respective articles. While it makes perfect sense in Chinese the way it is written, the computer translations would usually give some nonsense about the two.

They might need to start having a person who's involved in her tours to Asia who can translate these websites. Just an idea.

I'll have a go at an entry on our website for this concert. I'll post this link for tickets, together with the Google translation link: www.piaobuy.com/yanchanghui/4377.htmlI'll also add a link to this thread. Richard

Cheers Richard, oops I forgot! Had a busy evening on here, yesterday! Your events article works well, including the links (one of which brought me right back into this thread). Thanks Leo for your help with this. Dave

I thought I’ll post some background on the concert now that it is confirmed. In case you are like me who've never heard of them before the announcement of this concert. Lets start with the orchestra, the music backing is the National Ballet of China Orchestra . Their English version website does not seem to be working at the moment. According to their schedule , they had just finished a short Canadian tour in Vancouver and Quebec. One thing is sure, they will not be on a world tour with Ding Yi or Hayley as their schedule for the year is already booked. The concert conductor is Derek Gleeson. He is music composer and conductor / director for Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also responsible for rearranging the music scores for this concert. The violinist is Li Chuan Yun . He has quite a lot of concerts around the world having just finished a two month tour in US. His last scheduled performance is the April 29 Beijing concert. Interesting… Vocalist and the lead of this project Ding Yi. A short biography from a Chinese website. Apparently he is quite renowned as an opera singer. I found this recent interview of him last month where he talked about his career, his music ambitions, and a tiny bit at the very end about the upcoming concert with Hayley. It is quite long at 8 pages. Highlight of his career would be his tenure at Opera Australia where he performed in over 200 opera productions over a five year span. He made the difficult decision of going back to China to help advance the musical arts locally. In the past, he invited Australia opera singers to sing a mix of Classical Western Opera and Chinese folk songs. (I wonder if he got the inspiration form Hayley’s performance at the World Games. ). The 2010 Ding Yi concert is about 60 mins long if anyone is interested. I think the April 29th concert would be of similar format. He has one request for Hayley in the upcoming concert: to sing a few Chinese songs. Ding Yi's history of bringing in western singers to China to perform and Hayley’s tendency to experiment with new musical directions and her ability in singing Chinese songs would now seem like a good match. It would be interesting to see how he would adapt to her styles of music.

Thanks for all your help in this thread, Leo! As Jillian mentioned in the first post of this thread, Hayley and Ding Yi are already well known in Beijing, having performed together at the closing concert of the Beijing International Film Festival, 28 April 2012. Here's a longer video of them singing "You and Me", the official theme song of the 2008 Olympic Games, also held in Beijing: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzLTr2mVUcoRead all about the Film Festival concert HERE. From Hayley's official website: I know nothing about the concert at the Barbican, so it was probably a corporate event. Richard
