I appreciate your understanding and encouragements, Jillian. How I wish I had a good friend to travel with me like you did when you went to NZ! Martin, yes, I've been on a vacation before, but never alone obviously. What a boring vacation that would be! My sister and I have travelled to Oregon a few times together, and stayed in hotels together. I even planned almost our whole trip to Seaside, Oregon last summer, booking, sightseeing, etc. So, as far as that goes, I'm fine. It's the airport and plane stuff I'm not experienced with, and also not keen on wandering around an unfamiliar city. And, as I've reiterated before, I haven't flown on a plane in over 20 years!! My experience with flying is almost not even memorable. Yeah, I remember a few scenes here and there, but nothing that would help me in my own travelling endeavors. The same reasons I give are the same reasons for my sister. Even though she's driven a lot more places than I have, stayed in hotels with me and all that, she still has issues with confidence either. A couple weeks ago we went the big fair we have every year in the Seattle area to see a concert, and on the way back, we got a little lost, and my sister says "See, I'm not good at this stuff", or something like that. I understand that, and that would affect my confidence, too. So, actually, if it weren't for the lack of confidence my sister and I both have, we could probably manage it. My sister does want to see Hayley someday, but she's not enthusiastic or experienced enough herself to go to the trouble of going to New York. My dad's travelled a lot in his time, but he's never been to New York before, and I don't think he wants to! Also, as I said, I don't want my first time to be an advanced lesson. Okay, Martin?

Hi Libby I think you should go alone. Age 20 is time to quit being afraid. . You'll find that it's not that big of a deal to travel alone. Most people are much nicer than you think. Once you get to the city and to the venue you'll find that you'll have help to get back to your hotel. Take cabs if you can. Time to get out among em. Larry

Joe, I'm sorry if you're tired of reading about it. I'll have to respond to Larry in a PM I guess, and I suppose that's for the better. I don't want anymore negativity in this thread. I'm most likely not going, so that's the end of that. No more discussion about it unless I end up going, after all, I suppose.

Hello folks! Several events at Carnegie Hall have been postponed due to the recent hurricane, but it's too early to tell whether the American Christmas Carol concert will be affected. I'm keeping an eye on Carnegie Hall's website and I'll post any relevant information if and when it appears. Latest information: www.carnegiehall.org/BlogPost.aspx?id=4294990241Richard

Well, that's still over 4 weeks away, so you would think everything would be mostly back to normal... although I've still only seen bits & pieces on the news, with my work schedule.

The American Christmas Carol should go as planned. Carnegie Hall's blog as posted by Richard may be handy for last- minute venue info. .. www.carnegiehall.org/BlogPost.aspx?id=4294990241I won't even think about the storm forecast for next week
