Oh wow, I really do wish I could go! I'd love to see Hayley and Loreena McKennitt... Sarah McLachlan, even! I wonder how many songs Hayley would sing? But the problem would be convincing my sister or maybe even my dad. It's probably an extremely long shot, so don't anybody get their hopes up for me. I really do want to go though! I even went so far as to start looking up flights and hotels! LOL I guess I'd better wait till it's confirmed at least, and then see how much the concert tickets are! Already with flight and hotel, it would be tons of money! How does anyone afford to travel, for goodness sake! But I saw one hotel that would work. It's called the Wellington Hotel (NZ connection), and it's very close to the Hall itself; they're both on 7th Ave.; the Hall is on 57th st. and the hotel is on 55th. I probably wouldn't have to bother with any buses or anything, which would make my life easier. I really have no experience with travel at all, though, so any tips you could give would be helpful. Traveling alone is not really an option for me. I haven't flown on a plane since I was probably 7 yrs. old. Which is over 20 years ago! Hey Joe or Tim J, any thoughts on whether you'd like to go? I'd love to meet you (but don't get your hopes up!). You don't understand how badly I want to go, but it seems next to impossible. My life is so frustrating sometimes! But if she only sings one song, it's probably not worth all the trouble. Well, it would be for me. Edit: Well, upon consulting my sister on the prospect, she's out of the question. Too bad, she works with autistic kids. So, I now have the near impossible task of convincing my dad, who is a scrooge when it comes to Christmas carols (the website says that's what the program is). Hey, I know, I could have him travel with me, but I could go into the Hall with a HWI fan instead! Yes, come on, Joe, you have to go!

Hi everyone,
Just a word to say that Hayley's management have picked up on the discussions about this event and it is confirmed. Details weren't supposed to be announced until Monday though, so we will find out more then.
Many thanks to Valerie for the information.
Cheers, Dave

This is one venue where Hayley doesn't need a microphone because the acoustics are absolutely perfect. It would be a rare treat to hear her sing a cappella without amplification. If she did it would leave everyone spellbound.

This event falls on probably the worst possible day ... So very sorry friends. ...a weekday right in the middle of the three busiest workweeks of the year... ...all of my vacation and personal days are gone... ...what if it snows... ...but never say never, I suppose. She's getting two hours closer each time...third time the charm ?

But it is Hayley Joe (and Libby). You have to be prepared to make an effort. I once flew back to the UK early from a work assignment in Sydney so as not to miss a Hayley concert I had tickets for. I told my boss he had to take the chance, but that's when I would come back, whether or not I had finished the job (as it happened I had finished it, by working round the clock). And was it worth it? Absolutely! Perhaps someone else can fill in for you. Or you can talk to your boss, make it up by working extra hours sometime else. Or take unpaid leave. Anyway, it is worth it. There is only one Hayley.

Absolutely! Perhaps someone else can fill in for you. Or you can talk to your boss, make it up by working extra hours sometime else. Or take unpaid leave. Anyway, it is worth it. There is only one Hayley. Martin D We realize that, Martin. If it was so easy for us to do, don't you think we would've been seeing her every single time? We're not missing it because we want to, believe me (and Joe)! You just don't seem to understand how difficult some people's work schedules can be to deal with when planning extra things like this. Meeting Hayley would be amazing, but no matter what you say, it would not be worth it if it meant we might lose our jobs. For me, work isn't really the issue. As of now, I have plenty of time to request off a few days for a potential trip. For me, the biggest challenges are: #1 Convincing my dad to go with me, and #2 The cost!! It's like $300 per person to fly to NYC from Seattle!! And not to mention the hotels are about the same price (thankfully not per person)! So, at least $600 for the flight, and then another 300 for the hotel... Then there's the concert tickets! I imagine tickets to this venue will be terribly expensive! I mean, I have the money, but that's still a ton of money to blow all at once! It would be worth it to me, as far as that goes. But it wouldn't be to my travelling companion. Also, I would worry that just when I spend a ton of money on a trip to see Hayley, then, that's just when she'd finally have a performance over here, and I'd feel like I could've saved all that money. That doesn't seem likely, though, but that would still worry me anyway. And of course, as Joe mentioned, there could be snow. My dad would definitely not be keen on that. And then, the likelihood that she'll only sing one song would not make the trip worth it to anyone other than obsessed fans like me. He probably would be reluctant, even without all that. He would have to take time off from work. It's not that hard for him to take time off; he takes time off quite a bit, at the drop of a hat it seems like sometimes. He worries about taking too much time off though, taking away from his vacation time. This trip for us would require taking off 2 week days. True, he is the one who discovered Hayley for me, but he's nowhere near the fan I am, teasing me about "stalking" her all the time. My sister said I should try to wait for her to come closer to here. Ha! As if that's going to happen anytime soon! I still have yet to even mention this to him, since I was kind of waiting for the confirmation, and now I'm worried about the cost of the tickets and all that. Other than all this, I think he would be okay with a trip to NY, if we got to do something like go to Central Park, or something.

Umm, actually, I take that back. The hotel room for 2 adults would be over 700!! That is insane! I tried a chain hotel that I know is one of the cheaper ones, and it seems a little more doable, but I'm still not sure. I keep getting confused by the rates I'm seeing. That's why at first I thought the one hotel was only 300+ for 2 people, but it turns out, it was only for 1 person! The cheaper hotel is about 2 miles away from the Hall. That gets complicated, when you know nothing about transportation in a city you've never been to! You see why I definitely can't go by myself? I could never cope.

Hi MartinD, I would love to "make a effort" ; however I can't pick and choose working hours. Thanks for your advice. Hi Libby, Great post above. I did a quick comparison of hotel & gas for an overnight stay vs chauffeurred car if my family went to Carnegie Hall. And had a look at estimated venue ticket prices. It would be a "grand" effort Maybe higher than that with these record gas prices. Of course seeing Hayley again after seven years is thrilling, even if she sings one song or two. But one isn't guaranteed she can be seen after the show. I kinda wish this event wasn't at Carnegie Hall, over 2800 seats is a lot to fill...most would rather see a more informal venue. Still, I never say never i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Hi Libby,
A trip for you to New York City to see Hayley at Carnegie Hall in a program of that type would be a huge amount of money to put at risk for the possibility of so many unforseen circumstances of all kinds that might arise. If it were only to California, I perhaps would think a bit differently. Your day to see her under favorable circumstances will come. That's for sure. Just don't be one to have a "Larry Hauck" experience!
Sincerely, BobS

Wow, I would LOVE to go see her in NY! Unfortunately, the timing would be terrible for me, work-wise, but maybe...
I could fly on a cheap buddy pass from a friend who works for Delta, but that wouldn't help me with the cost of a hotel, and flying that way makes it difficult to plan a hotel stay (what if I arrive earlier than expected?). I'm not phased by solo travel (Libby, we're close in age, and I assure you it's nowhere near as stressful as it seems, once you arrive somewhere!), but it's costly! For me, it would partly come down to how many songs each artist is performing. Hayley & Loreena are the only acts I consider worth money, and one or two songs each makes it very hard to justify.
I need more details before I can make a decision. I'm excited to hear of any Hayley performance in the US, though! The more of them that happen, the more likely I'll see her again (saw her once with CW in 2007 - amazing!).

Hello folks! I've just noticed this concert will feature a performance of "The American Christmas Carol" by Tim Janis. I've found this video which gives more information and some clips from the DVD of the show: www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbMCwzyD9EkThis is going to be a fantastic concert! Richard
