They sometimes do, depending on the stations. It's called "Pops goes the Fourth." Frankly it's not all that different in style from "A Capitol Fourth," though, and Hayley's been there and done that.

My mention of Hayley with The Boston Pops' Fourth of July concert was simply to contrast what her likely exposure would be between The Pops' Frangoulis show, and a possible later PBS showing, and the certain exposure she would have with a single song sung at The Pops' Fourth of July concert just two weeks later.
(The Fourth - expected attendees 500,000, and TV, 7 million)

Yeah, it would be great if she could do that show too, sometime. You never know, it could happen! She's already been invited back with the Boston Pops (though from what Peter says, it sounds like it was Mario who wanted her), after already performing with them before, earlier in her career. The PBS producers already called her back once, so the Boston Pops might invite her back, too. Can't wait to hear about the show! I'll be gone most of tomorrow, but I imagine not much will be revealed until Friday at the earliest, anyway. I doubt any pictures will be allowed to be taken during the show, but we at least need to know what songs she sings and what dresses she wears! Colors and all!

Yes, Libby, that is why initially I had hoped Hayley was referring to a possible Christmas concert or a tour which would be a great way for her to break into the States. Her expressly saying it was through Frangoulis this time, may be I made too much of it, it could simply be that was the way the cookie crumbled on that occasion. I have myself thoughts that Boston Pops had regarded her highly and her previous performances with them had been well appreciated. Peter S.

Thanks Fusilier. Somehow Hayley seems to have done more in the States than I for one tend to think she has done. It is good to be reminded. Peter S.

I respectfully suggest that the fact it is available across the States is not that significant. What matters is how many tune in to that channel against the background of many more avidly watched. Countering that comment, perhaps more of those who matter tune in and that will be what counts. Peter S.

At work so I can’t write a lot. Hayley was awesome last night. She sang four songs. Whispers in a Dream and A Hero Inside (duet with Mario) in the first half. Another duet with Mario (I can’t remember the name, but it was a José Carreras song) and Summer Fly in the second half. I stayed for the retakes after the concert. Mario and Hayley went through song A Hero Inside again (once in its entirety and partially another time.) It was awesome seeing the more casual dynamics when they were reshooting.
Hayley wore a solid blue knee length dress in the first half and solid red knee length dress in the second half. I think both were silk. I know I have seen both of them in pictures somewhat recently, but I can’t go back to find them right now.
We did get to meet Hayley after the concert (sadly Paige had gone by then.) A bit of a mix up between whether we should be at the stage door or inside, but in the end it worked out. The venue was trying to close (and therefore was asking us to leave), so Hayley graciously took us back stage so we had more time. I only got a couple of photos after the concert, but it looked like Tim got a lot more after the concert.
As for the attendance, the hall appeared to mostly full (there were a ton of really enthusiastic Greeks.) I don’t think the attendance is as important to the later TV viewing as you would think. When I lived in Illinois my employer owned a large venue where a few PBS specials were filmed. I can recall one (I can’t remember the artist’s name right now, but it was a well known country artist), where attendance was low—they gave away tickets at work to fill the audience up. I remember later seeing the special on PBS—so it that case it did still air (at least in Chicago.)

Hi Katie Many thanks for your report. You were all very fortunate to be invited backstage and have a "private" chat with Hayley. Can't wait for the photos.
Best wishes Martin
