Boston, MA (PRWEB) June 09, 2012
International tenor and Sony Classical recording artist Mario Frangoulis teams up with maestro Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops to debut his highly anticipated new international release – Beautiful Things – in the United States (www.bostonpops.org).
Joining Frangoulis on the historic stage of Boston Symphony Hall will be Hayley Westenra, Alkistis Protopsalti, George Perris, and composer Stephan Moccio.
Hayley Westenra (www.hayleywestenra.com) is Frangoulis’ long-time friend and collaborator – a classical crossover soprano who debuted her first album, Pure at the age of 15, which became the fastest selling international debut album in the history of the UK classical charts with combined sales of well over four million albums.
Alkistis Protopsalti is one of the top performers in Greece. With 36 albums to her name, and thousands of performances over a 35+ year career, she is known as the “Liza Minelli” of Greece. Her participation on Beautiful Things came during 2011 when she recorded the duet "Rojo Violento" with Frangoulis on the highly anticipated new album.
George Perris (www.georgeperris.com) is a young and emerging international French-Greek singer who has received significant attention over the last 3 years by artists such as Lara Fabian, for whom he opened several concerts. He caught the “ear” of composer Stephan Moccio who has written several songs for his 2012 French album Un Souhait which represents his fourth international release.
Stephan Moccio, is the composer for the song “The Face,” from Beautiful Things as well as the title track, which was performed by Frangoulis at the Opening Ceremonies of the Special Olympics in 2011. Moccio will join Frangoulis, Lockhart and the Boston Pops as a special guest on the piano. Moccio is a composer, songwriter, producer, recording artist, arranger, performer, studio and record label owner – a modern day Renaissance man! He has helped sell over 20 million albums worldwide – but one of the high points in his career was as the composer for the epic anthem of the Vancouver 2012 Olympic Games. Moccio has written songs for Celine Dion, Sarah Brightman, Josh Groban, Olivia Newton-John, John Legend, Hayley Westenra and Gladys Knight.
This unique live concert event is being sponsored and presented by The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans for whom Mario Frangoulis is an International Ambassador. Through its scholarship programs, The Association of Distinguished Americans has provided over $90 million dollars to high-risk/high-potential students to enable them to pursue their own version of the American Dream. On the Beautiful Things album, Vanessa Williams sings a duet with Frangoulis, “A Hero Is Inside,” which is dedicated to the Association.
The Beautiful Things project is the culmination of 2 years of collaboration between Frangoulis and his long-time producer Steve Wood. It includes new material from world-class composers such as Wood, David Foster and Stephan Moccio. Additional duets with Frangoulis on the album include Alkistis Protopsalti on “Rojo Violento,” and the acclaimed young Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo on a song dedicated to Maria Callas called “Maria”.

I had to look up which song Stephan Moccio had written "for" Hayley. It's What You Never Know (Won't Hurt You). I'm pretty sure Sarah Brightman sang that one first (minus Hayley's lyrics, I assume), so technically, he didn't write anything specifically for Hayley. Right?
