From the preview & poster it does appear that SoY version of Gabriel's Oboe is the one from the mission. Which is really weird, as AFAIK it was not released as a single this year. I don't remember Adiemus - Karl Jenkins, or Nessun Dorma from Pavarotti being released this year either. Hayley, you need to start releasing singles. Has she ever done one? I can't remember one. How about Amalia/Malena? Martin D

Hi Taylor,
Wrong song! WH is and always will be Kate Bush's theme song here. But something nobody else has done here, rather than a cover is what is needed. Almost any of her Ja[panese songs, or say something like Listen to the wind/Summer Rain could do well if promoted. Or something from Paradiso to be more up to date as I suggested. Lezione could be good single material too I think,

Hayley's World In Union and Whispers In a Dream were both released as digital singles and/or or digital tracks last year, which is the qualifying year. World In Union as by far the biggest seller would have been an obvious choice but hey, do I detect a heavy Morricone influence in this year's CBA? Hmmm... knowing how devious the organizers have been in some past years makes this... interesting. Interesting enough to benefit Hayley though? I don't know, I certainly hope so... but we shall have to wait and see.
It seems odd though that old material or re-released old material such as the Pavarotti is allowed to qualify - that is a nonsense if you ask me. What next? Celine Dion and the Titanic theme? Crazy!
Cheers, Dave

As good as Ennio Morricone is, do you think he would beat John Williams, who is also accepting the award for lifetime achievement? I certainly hope so, but you can't be too sure. I think Paradiso would be better than the War Horse soundtrack, and Ennio has been around longer. But John Williams just seems to be more well-known these days, because his movies are more recent, and not in Italian. I don't think they'll want Williams sweeping the board, though, as that makes it look like there's no-one else who is any good. And that looks bad for the genre. In most awards shows I've seen, anyone getting 'Lifetime' will ONLY get that in any given year. Hayley & Ennio being pretty much a 'dream team' they SHOULD walk it with Paradiso. But fan votes are usually more about popularity than genuine ability, so we just have to hope Hayley can get her full fanbase to vote. Her worldwide popularity should swing it for her. 'World's best selling Soprano' and all that But... Fan votes are almost as bad as committee votes for their unpredictability. So it's back to 'hope like heck'

It is unfortunate that Laura is up against Hayley and Military Wives will also draw a deep emotive response, especially with Harry back in the forefront of action. Our Queen, our chaps and their families. Very potent emotive force.

It seems to me if after 10 years in the music business and with her best album ever, if Hayley can't win the CBA this year then I don't think she ever will. I'm afraid I became disillusioned with the CBAs some time ago when it became obvious that genuine talent often goes unrewarded in favour of mass appeal. Like Elliot I am "hoping like heck" that Hayley wins but if I had to bet my bottom dollar on anyone then it would be the Military Wives. Never mind the fact that some of them hadn't sung until a year ago, patriotic albums always go down well this year of all years and especially when you consider their husbands are servicemen serving their country who are sometimes wounded, disabled or killed for doing so. The British public are likely to be very receptive to this, having just watched the Paralympics. As you say Peter, a very powerful, emotive force. Musical ability actually has little to do with this Album of the Year award.

Well, at least Paradiso is nominated twice, and hopefully she'll get to perform. You don't think Hayley's next album will be good enough to win? Of course, adding Ennio Morricone to it must help, but that makes it seem like she's not good enough to win on her own. Oh well, we'll see. I'm not going to vote again, because if the same people enter the competition 10 times, I doubt they'll count it 10 times. I do get tired of typing my address over and over, anyway. LOL

I think it's inevitable that Hayley will win it some time. Probably more than once. But it's a case of when...
Paradiso has set a new high bar for her (Non-Japanese) albums, IMO. It'll be very interesting to see how she follows up on that...

Paradiso has set a new high bar for her (Non-Japanese) albums, IMO. It'll be very interesting to see how she follows up on that... I certainly agree with you there. After Paradiso, a standard classical crossover album consisting of a collection of well known covers would be a bit of a disappointment. I imagine (or hope) that with the next album will feature plenty of original material or at least definitive 'Hayley material'. But I'm wandering off topic! ... I think that Paradiso is the best album out of the ones nominated... but I guess we'll have to wait and see as this award is pretty much popularity based. And no one has a bigger worldwide audience than Andre Rieu. But at any rate, the nomination should give Hayley an opportunity to perform! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Cheers, Jillian

Hi all, Just thought I'd share that everyday this week on the Alan Titchmarsh show an artist which has been nominated for a classical brit award will be featured, today it's Noah Stewart singing a medley of various songs, interestingly I don't think any of them are on his album . Hopefully Hayley will be featured at some point. I'll keep checking for info best wishes Sing
