Dave or Steve, did they play any part of a Paradiso song when they showed Hayley's album up on the screen? I distinctly remember that when Treasure was nominated, we had a video of this part, and we heard Let Me Lie. So, did they do this with Paradiso, as well?

Victoria Pendleton...?? I thought she was dancing! Didn't know she was a classical performer too. A lady of many talents Victoria Pendleton also won gold and silver medals in cycling at the 2012 London Olympic Games. She's now retired from the sport. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_PendletonRichard

Having just played it again on my home audio/TV setup (loudly!) I liked it so much that I've done exactly what you said I should do! I've ordered it from Amazon UK at the astonishing price of £7.79 post-free and it's double play - a Blu-Ray disc *and* a DVD *and* region-free, you can't ask for better than that! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifHi Dave Yes, I saw that but does it mean you get a blue ray disc and a dvd? If so, then it is amazing value since Amazon sell the dvd alone for £10!! I do not have blue ray so I would need to be sure that the dvd was stand alone. Cheers Martin

Hi Martin,
It is very common for blu ray discs to be packaged with a standard dvd copy as well. However, it is in my experience that this dvd will not contain extras and is just the basic film. Hope this info is of use.

Cheers Martin Hi Martin, As Gordon said, yes with a "double play" you get both. Sometimes the DVD does have to cut some of the extra feutures present on the Blu-Ray, I think this is because more space is available on Blu-Ray. To solve that problem they'd have to release a 2 disc DVD so you might want to check Amazon to see if any 2 disc versions are available. The double-play version contains only a one disc DVD and I read somewhere that there is a behind-the-scenes feature included but it is shortened. When I get my copy, I'll let you know. Cheers, Dave

I believe she came last in the first round (but there were no eliminations in that round, so she will dance again next week). Martin D

As everyone else seems to be ignoring your question, Libby, I will try to answer. There was a brief snatch of (I think) 'Whispers in a Dream', but it was all over too quickly to really appreciate it.

Hi Libby, Thanks to John for the reminder (it wasn't deliberate!), if you blinked you'd have missed it so I suspect nobody could remember. Anyway, I have just checked my recording and they played precisely three seconds of Metti Una Sera A Cena. They had a lot of albums to get through! Cheers, Dave

There's a picture and brief mention of Hayley in this weeks' Hello! magazine (15th Oct) attending the classical Brits. It's a nice picture, it's just a pity they list her as being one of the performers! best wishes Sing

I received the Double play package on Friday and have just had a good look at both discs. Apart from the quality (SD versus HD), they are identical. Both contain the musical lasting about 2h 10m plus 30 minutes of the "Grand Finale" i.e. the curtain calls, guests, ALW etc., and an 18 minute behind the scenes video so 3 hours in all. They must have struggled to cram all that onto one DVD even double sided, and the average bitrate is down to 5.5Mbps, lower than usual, but it isn't obvious and I think the often dark background (which doesn't need as much bandwidth) helped a lot so the quality is good. I don't know if there are any other versions out there with more features for example, but if there are they are unlikely to be as cheap as this present Amazon UK price. £7.79, rated 4.8 out of 5 by 212 customer reviews, none less than 4 stars, highest I've ever seen where there are a large number of reviews, must be bargain of the Century. www.amazon.co.uk/Phantom-Opera-Royal-Albert-Hall/dp/B005M0X078?tag=5336432705-21Cheers, Dave

It contained all the features as you describe and I too thought that the sound quality on my hi-fi was very good. I spent last evening watching the entire show - just fantastic (or should I say phantastic ). Cheers Martin

Hi Martin, Now that IS bargain basement! There was no chance of that for me though, all my local record stores closed years ago! Glad you like it! Dave

I watched the Classic Brits again on ITV last night and was very impressed by the quality of the production. There were four close ups of Hayley and the production team had managed to remove the gremlins from Nicola Benedetti's performance of Schindler's List.
