Most great events just lead me to the words of some song or another...
You know that it would be untrue You know that I would be a liar If I was to say to you Girl, we couldn't get much higher
Come on baby, light my fire Come on baby, light my fire Try to set the night on fire, yeah
and she did.............

The KLING FREITAG speaker rigs, 9 in each suspended column. Hope they were waterproof and not just rain resistant. 6 of these monster bass speakers on each side of the stage, The Generators in the background were a bit to close to the audience at the right of the stage and produced a noticeable hum throughout the performance, Which wasn't improved by placing large metal screens in front of them, which only seemed to resonate in sympathy with the generators and make it worse. They could easily have been placed 20 or thirty metres behind the stage and down the hill and had sound deadening material placed in front of them. Tim Evans, way before the sound check even started, He asked me "Are you allowed in here ? " I laughed " Of course I am, I am the health and safety Inspector"

A big thank you to Comet and to Martin D for today's photos! Paul, those speakers were huge! Martin, I found no fault with any audio portion of Summer Fly.

I am looking forward to the SC/4 TV transmission of the video they took. Their camera men were very busy during the soundcheck and the concert itself, despite the torrential rain, one of them held his ground on an open topped scaffolding in torrential rain. I was afraid he would be washed away into the Mersey at one stage. Hayley thanked the audience for sticking it out, I am sure the word "insane" crossed her mind before she said "You are all very brave for staying" or something like that, I may have written down what she said exactly if I can only find it. But I can feel it in me bones that some more video may become available before we get to see the TV broadcast

Thanks Joe. I thought it was OK too. But Libby seemed to be having problems.
I suffer from having a laptop with an unusually good audo capability (I deliberately chose it for that). So i wonder how well things work with other equipment sometimes. And if someone complains, then I worry. Or perhaps it was the actual concert sound mix. But that sounded OK to me too, and Arnaud is always pretty good at making his fiance's voice sound fabulous.

Many thanks Martin and Comet for your comments and pictures - hope your return to the Emerald isle, Comet and Paddy, was a pleasant one. The last few images from Hayley's sound check from me. Best wishes Grant

Nice! Thanks Grant!! Libby has just shamed me into doing a concert report for the Official Forum. That's the one we all seem to forget. But there are Hayley fans there who don't go anywhere else, so it is worth reaching out to them.

Hayley is a beautiful young lady. I hate it when unflattering photos of her are posted. Our HWI members should never do anything that doesn't show Hayley in a good light.

Honestly Larry, I haven't seen any particularly "unflattering" pictures of Hayley... It's not like we're going to post awful pictures of her! I don't think anyone here would do that. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

So i wonder how well things work with other equipment sometimes. And if someone complains, then I worry. Or perhaps it was the actual concert sound mix. But that sounded OK to me too, and Arnaud is always pretty good at making his fiance's voice sound fabulous. Martin D Martin, the problem for me was that the instruments, especially the drums and guitar, maybe, were drowning her out. I could still hear her; I could understand her words (partly because I know the words already), but the noise of the instruments was just too boomy. It was almost like if you were there, but some distance away. Her voice just sounded quiet, so I couldn't hear the quality of her voice as well as normal. I'm sure it had nothing to do with Arnaud's sound engineering skills, but somehow the balance of the instruments and her voice just wasn't right when it came out of my speakers. Seeing that everyone else thought it sounded fine probably makes me sound persnickety or something. The sound certainly wasn't bad; I just couldn't hear her very well is all! I can't help what I do or don't hear. BTW, I think ALL the photos look just fine. Yes, I like her sweater and scarf. I was surprised to see her wear such a heavy sweater in summer, even if it was raining. Does it really get that cold in the summer in Wales/UK? I wouldn't know since I've never been there.
